his son John in Waukon when he was in the service.

After Ole retired, he continued to walk up town to the bakery for many years. He passed away in 1947. Hilda died at the age of 63 of diabetes which she had for many years.

Tonetta Dotseth Nelson grew up in Nonway and came to America at the age of 19. She was born 17 Sep 1888 and died 31 May 1956. Tonetta lived and worked in Waukon until she married Charles Nelson 29 Nov 1904 and moved to Minneapolis. To this union 7 children were born. A set of twins, Harry and Hildegarde, were born 28 Jul 1907. Hildegarde passed away soon after birth. The other children were: John, Harriet, Charles, Ray and Hoken. Charlie and Tonetta spent their last years on a farm at Ashby, MN.

John was born 10 Jan 1890 in Norway and came to America with his mother as a small child. When young he grubbed for neighbors. He later helped his father at the bakery. John went into the service in 1917 and returned in 1919. John moved to Waukon to continue his bakery business. He married Millie Nylund (b. 23 Feb 1891-d. 2 Jan 1983). To this union 4 children were born: Raymond (died at birth); John, Jr.; Jean; and Robert. John died in 1973.

Alfred was born in 1897 and grew up in Decorah. He went into the service in World War I. Alfred never married. He died from a gun shot wound Feb 1922.

Ann was born in 1898 and grew up in the Decorah area. She went to beauty school and then came back to Decorah and opened a beauty shop. Ann left Decorah for a time, but still maintained her business. Ann married Leslie Cox. After Leslie's death, she married Milton Miller. Ann passed away at her home Oct 1986.

August was born 24 May 1900. He went through school here in Decorah and then learned his father’s trade. August married Louella Johnson. He worked in many bakeries in the Decorah area and in Minnesota. Lou passed away from complications from a ruptured appendix in Nov 1945. They did not have any children. August lived the last years of his life with his sister, Ann Miller. He passed away in Jan 1974.

Henry was born in 1902 and grew up in the Decorah area. He learned the bakery trade from his father and took over the bakery when his father retired. Henry married Clara Topel. They had no children. Clara helped in the bakery until they retired. Both were interested in travel and did that as often as the business allowed. Clara passed away in 1969; Henry in 1970.

Carl was born 14 Feb 1905. He went to school and grew up in Decorah. Carl also learned the baking trade including cake baking and decorating. He attended Luther College. Carl married Nancy Logston and to this union one daughter, Margo, was born. She works in St. Paul, MN in the license department. Carl died 2 Feb 1968.

Norman (Clarence) was born 28 May 1909. He went to school in Decorah and was very interested in boxing. He also learned the baking trade and worked with his father and brother. Norman married Paula Morgan and to their union 4 children were born: Frank, Helen, Michael and Gregory. He went into the service in World War II.

After the service, he and his wife were divorced. Their children grew up in Decorah and then left the area. Norman died 28 Jan 1986.

Mathias (Matt) was born 16 Mar 1888. He came to America when he was 21 years old. He came to this country on the Cunnard line landing in Aug 1893. The little schooling he had was in Decorah. Matt married Ingri Throndsen (b. 19 Apr 1882-d. Aug 1929) and farmed near Caledonia, MN. They had 2 children - Oscar and Melvin. Matt's wife died when the children were young. Matt passed away 29 Oct 1957.

Oscar worked on a road crew for a number of years. He married Flossie Kuecker. They had one son, Dennis. Oscar returned to farming after some years and now lives in Spring Grove, MN.

Melvin enjoys old articles and has a huge collection.

Joseph James Doubek was born 28 Sep 1883 in Ft. Atkinson, IA, the son of John and Mary (Kautman) Doubek. He died 21 Jul 1968 at the Cresco Care Center. Joe is buried at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Calmar, IA.

Clara Rose Hauber was born 19 Dec 1887 in Spillville, IA, the daughter of George and Rose (Huber) Hauber. Rose (Huber) Hauber was a granddaughter of the Hubers who built St. Anthony DePadua Chapel (the “Smallest Church" in the world) near Festina, IA. Clara (Hauber) Doubek died 1 Nov 1978 at Decorah. She also is buried at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Calmar.

Joe and Clara were married 6 Sep 1910. They had 3 children: Gladys (Doubek) Sphar (9 Jul 1912-4 Oct 1995), Clarence “Buster” (2 Apr 1914-30 Jun 1989) and Virginia
