Memorial services will be held at the Asbury Methodist church in Lake Mills Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for Lt. Paul Waggoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Waggoner if Lake Mills, who died of wounds received in action in Italy June 6. Besides his parents, he leaves his wife and a 3-months-old son, David Paul, whom he had never seen.

Lake Mills, Ia. - Memorial services for Lt. Paul Waggoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Waggoner will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Asbury Methodist church in charge of the pastor, Erling Falck, assisted by neighboring pastors.

Lt. Waggoner died June 8, of wounds received in action in Italy June 6, according to a telegram received here. In a letter to his wife, the former Lorraine Heltne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Heltne, written by a Red Cross worker, Paul had expressed hope that the telegram from the war department telling of his being wounded had not caused her or his parents too much worry as he had suffered an abdominal wound and hoped to be up again in a few days. In the letter he had expressed a hope that he might be able to come home soon and see his little son, David Paul, whom he had never seen. He had never received any letter which contained any of the many photographs of the baby which had been sent to him by his wife. The family has not as yet received the first cable telling of his being wounded.

Lt. Paul Waggoner, a graduate of the local high school, was inducted in the army May, 1942. He was first stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kans., then Camp Pickett, Va., and from there he was sent to Camp Blanding, Fla. He took his officers' training at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was graduated in December, 1942. From there he was sent to Camp Walters, Texas; Camp Swift, Texas; Alexandria, La., and Fort Meade, Md. He went overseas in November, 1943. For some time he was stationed at Oran, North Africa, then into Italy.

Surviving are his parents, his wife and 3-months-old son, David Paul, a sister, Genevieve, and a brother, Sgt. William Waggoner, now stationed in Ceylon.
