This is an obit of my ggrandfather, Libbeous Bascom Chase. Their are many Chase's and related family in Webster County.
It does not say, but he died on October 12, 1938.
Libbeous B. Chase, 79, retired Webster county farmer, died
at his home one-half mile north of Otho at 1:30 o’clock
Thursday afternoon following a several days illness with
heart trouble.
Mr. Chase was born in New York state Nov 3 1859, and came
with his parents to Webster County in 1862 in a covered wagon.
His father filed on the first homestead in Fulton township.
Libbeous attended the county schools of Webster County and on
April 12, 1880, was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Brooks,
who died in 1924.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ansel Dunning, of Livermore,
Mrs James Hutcheson of Garfield, Wash, Mrs. Weldon Smith of
Callender and Mrs. Harley Beck of Carlton, Ill two sons
Lester Chase and W.L. Chase of Fort Dodge. A brother
L. M. Chase of Howe Neb. 34 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chase was a member of the Methodist Church in Otho.
Funeral services will take place Sunday Afternoon at 2:30 at the
Methodist Church in Otho. The Rev. G. R. Gilbert will Officiate and burial will be in the Otho
Cemetery. The body will be at the G. Marshall Young funeral home until the time of the
service.
