Edward Bass, a prominent pioneer resided of the county, passed away
at the early hour Saturday morning; December 14, 1907 at the home of his
daughter Mrs. Miller Harden, in Yell Township. He had been in ill health for
some time with paralysis and death came as a welcome release from his
sufferings.
The funeral services were held from the Baptist Church at Mineral Ridge at
1:20 O'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J.C. Crawford, of this
city and attended by a large concourse of old time friends of the deceased.
Burial was in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery.
Edward Bass was born in Indiana 64 years ago. He came to Boone County in the
early 1850's and had resided on a farm near Mineral Ridge until a few years
ago when his wife died. Since that time he had made his home with his
daughter, Mrs. Harden.
He leaves to mourn his death; Jess, John and Mathew; and daughters; Mrs. Emma
Harden; Mrs. Elizabeth McFarland; Mrs. Grace Osborn and Mrs. Nellie Evans;
also five brothers; Mathew and John of Portland, OR.; William of South Dakota;
and Thomas and Douglas of Mineral Ridge.
