My dad’s uncle Asa Roberts lived in the northeast corner of Liberty township of Ringgold county on the same homeplace as his parents, Abraham and Louisa Jane (McMullen) Roberts. I have my uncle Asa’s (known to all as Ace) old oak telephone. I was hoping to find out some information on this phone, as it is sort of unique in that it was made by a man named Leo V. Myers from Clearfield, Iowa.
I am including a closeup photo of the nameplate from this phone. Do you know anything about this man? I assume he made more than just this phone for folks. Any information would be greatly appreciated |
From Pat O'Dell: I find this man on the 1900 census of Grant Twp, Taylor Co, Iowa and his occupation is listed as watch and clock repairer. He moved to Red Oak and on the 1910 - 1930 census is listed as a mfr, furniture manufacturer and undertaker. Evidently liked to tinker! |
