Alborn, Harold LeRoy -
An
ice storm that hit southwest Iowa Wednesday afternoon wasn't just inconvenient:
It was deadly.
Harold Alborn, 58, of rural Bedford was the victim of a
two-truck accident on Highway 49 south of Lenox. According to the Taylor
County
Sheriff's Department report, Alborn was driving a
pickup truck southbound on Highway 49 when his vehicle slid on the ice-covered
surface. Alborn's pickup slid sideways on the highway
and was struck by a semi truck owned by Barrans Farm Supply of Lenox and driven by
Roger Heim of Lenox. Heim reportedly suffered no serious injuries.
Alborn was taken to Greater Community Hospital in Creston by the Lenox Ambulance
Service.
The
victim's obituary appears elsewhere in this edition.
