Bolinger, Clark Dee -
City of Lenox employee Clark Bolinger passed away on Tuesday, July 13, while working on a natural gas transmission
line southeast of Lenox. No report as to cause of death was obtained by press time, but hot, weather may have
contributed to the death.
According to Karen Zabel, Lenox City Administrator, the circumstances of the death were: Clark, age 54, was
setting in a pickup truck as water was being pumped out of a hole so work could be done on a transmission line.
He had contact with City Hall about 15 minutes prior and asked for more fuel for the pump. City employee Jim
Rice then went en route with fuel, called Clark on the radio but got no response. When Rice found Clark, he was
apparently already dead.
The City Administrator reported that there was no physical labor involved in the work that Clark was doing
immediately prior to his death. Some residents who are mourning his passing suspect that the death may have been
caused by him working in the hot, humid weather conditions, then retreating to air conditioning in the pickup truck.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine. Funeral arrangements are pending.
