Joe
Brown, 77, died very suddenly Sunday evening on the way to the hospital after
suffering a stroke. He had attended church Sunday morning and with his wife,
had been at the Lenox Cafe for dinner. He lived on a farm northeast of town and
was active in church and community affairs. He had done much volunteer work on
the
Christian
Church building project this fall.
Funeral
services were Wednesday at 2 p. m., at the Christian Church, with Rev. David Shaeffer and Rev. Donald Briley of Prescott officiating. Burial was to be in the Evergreen Cemetery at
Prescott.
Obituary
Joe
Brown, youngest son of Allen P. and Sarah J. Brown, was born in McLean County,
Illinois on Sept 27, 1888, and passed away on Dec. 12, 1966 at the age of 77
years, 2 months and 15 days.
At
the age of 2 he moved with his parents to a farm northwest of Prescott, Iowa,
where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Bessie Mae Wood on March
11, 1914.. To this union were born 2 children.
He
is survived by his widow and 2 sons, LaVern of Tempe,
Ariz., and Alvin of Lenox; 2 daughters-in-law; 8, grandchildren; 2 sisters,
Mrs. Grace McIlravy of Creston, and Mrs. Merle Molynex of Ellendale, Minn., and a host of nieces, nephews
and friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson;
Rodney Brown.
He
was active in church and community activities and willing to help others. He
was a kind, loving father and grandfather and was happiest when his family and
grandchildren were around him. He was called "Grandpa Joe" by many of
his grandchildrens' friends. He will be greatly
missed by all who knew him.

Galen
R. Caskey, 60, of Des Moines died Thursday morning of
cancer. He had been ill since June. He was born north of Lenox and graduated
from the high
school
here in 1924.
He
lived at Humboldt 12 years, and has been in Des Moines 5 years. He was
executive secretary of the Hawkeye Chapter Telephone Pioneers of America,
for
Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.
He
was a member of the Des Moines consistory, a past master of Lyons Lodge of
Clinton, past president of Humboldt Rotary Club, and a member of the First
Methodist
Church, Des Moines.
Services
were Saturday with burial at Council Bluffs Monday.
Survivors
include his wife, Jessie; a daughter, Mrs Judith
Schultz and her husband Charles of Tacoma, Wash,; his father, the Rev. Homer Caskey of Council
Blluffs;
and three brothers, Ivan of Council Bluffs, Herman of Bennington, Nebr., and
Paul of Deland, Fla.

Mrs Haleyon Eckels, who would
have been 80 years old Oct 27, died in Greeley, Colo. Sept 29. The funeral and burial were in Greeley.
Her
husband, Ed Eckels, died in June 1962. She was a sister-in-law of Warren Eckels, Mrs Lillie Scott and Mrs Anna O'Riley.

Leo
Ford, 82, of Shenandoah died Saturday morning. He and his family formerly lived on
a farm in this community. The funeral
was Monday at 10 a m at
Shenandoah
with burial there.
He
leaves his widow, Myrtle, two daughters, Mrs Margaret
(Peggy) Hausheer of Independence, Mo, Mrs Mary Ann Mayberry, Hamburg, one son Jim of Malvern and
14 grandchildren.

Ann
Turner returned Monday evening from Salina, Kansas. She had gone there two weeks ago because of
the serious illness of her brother-in-law, Albert Frehse.
Mr Frehse died in Asbury Hospital Oct 24 and funeral
services were held in the First Presbyterian Church in Salina on October
27. He is survived by his wife,
Helen,
a son Robert and his wife and their children, Steven and Carol of Torrance,
California.

Funeral
services were held Friday for Eugene Goodale, 56, who
passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Rosary Hospital. Interment was in the Lenox
cemetery.
Eugene
V. Goodale, son of Frank E. and Clara Wright Goodale, was born in Chicago, Ill., Feb, 14, 1909 and
passed away at Rosary Hospital, Corning, Iowa, Oct. 20, 1966.
When
two years of age he came to live in Lenox and made his home with his uncle and
aunt, Mr and Mrs Lew Copeland,
who proceeded him in death in 1964.
He
graduated from Lenox High School and attended Grinnell College.
He
was married to Fanny Wilson Feb. 16, 1946. To this union were born two
children, Robert and Jean who survive.
He
was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Lenox, and the Elks Lodge of
Creston. He spent his life working as an Auditor and Insurance Underwriter.
Besides
his wife and children he is survived by an aunt, Retta Goodale of Lenox and other relatives in Des Moines.
The
funeral was held October 22, 1965 at 2:00 P. M. at the Bender Funeral Home. Rev
James E. Eddy conducted the service with burial in the Lenox Cemetery.
Pallbearers
were Eugene Paymal, Herman Haering,
John Borland, George Grey, Ernest Hufnagel and
Kenneth Black.

Hubbard
Hogue, 68, died at Rosary Hospital Tuesday about 4 p. m. The body is at Bender
Funeral Home with services planned for Friday afternoon and burial in the Lenox
cemetery. His widow and seven children survive.

Hogue, Hubbard -
Services
were held Dec. 17 at Bender's Funeral Home for Hubbard Hogue, who passed away
Dec. 14. Interment was in Prescott Cemetery. [Lenox]
Hubbard
D. Hogue, son of Lewis Byron and Linda Price Hogue, was born Feb. 19, 1897, at
Lebanon, Mo., and passed away at Rosary Hospital, Corning, Iowa, after an
illness of several years. He was 69 years old.
His
active working life was spent in farming. He answered the call of his country
during World War I, enlisting in the Army and served overseas with the
49th infantry.
On
June 14, 1918 at Hepburn, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Ida Bell Journey.,
To this union were born 8 children, one of which preceded him in death.
Those
left to mourn his passing are his widow; 7 children: Mrs. Ruth Jane Boltinghouse of Sharpsburg; Mrs. Dorothy Brown of Bolonax, Calif.; Mrs. Ana Jones of Humboldt, Ira Joe and
Claude Hogue of Lenox; Lewis Byron and Charles, both of Loveland, Colo; six sisters and three brothers; also 19
grandchildren, a host of friends and acquaintances.
Mr.
Hogue accepted the Christian early in his youth. He could be described as a man
who loved his family and asked to be a good neighbor to all.

Services
were held at Bender Funeral Home Saturday, Oct. 30, for George E. Jenkins, 81,
a Lenox resident. The Rev. A. L. Clements conducted the service
with
interment in Fairview Cemetery.
George
E., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron M. Jenkins was born in Buchanan County, Iowa,
March 21, 1884. He died Oct. 27, 1965, at the Rosary Hospital,
Corning,
Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 8 days.
At
the age of 16 he moved with his parents to the Lenox vicinity.
He
was married to Mabel Barnes on July 5, 1905. They were parents of four
daughters, Edith, Lillian, Mary and Jennie, and two sons, Myron and George Jr.
After
his marriage, Mr. Jenkins farmed in the Clearfield and Lenox vicinities until
they retired to their home on Temple Street in Lenox.
He
was preceded in death by his daughter Lillian.
Those
left to cherish his memory are his wife Mabel, his daughters Mrs. Bernard Meese
of Oak Park, Ill.; Mrs. Walter Vaughn of Fremont, Calif.; Mrs.
Carl
Brown of Oakland, Calif.; his sons, Myron of Wilmington, Calif.; and George of
Coquille, Ore.; many other relatives and friends.
The surviving children were all here
for the funeral.

Mr and Mrs Harold Clark and Junell,
Alvin Dunn of Creston and Clarence Olson of Muscatine returned late Sunday for
Sheridan, Wyo. where they had been called by the sudden death of Cecil H
Ross. Mrs Dunn
and Robert Clark returned late Tuesday night. Mr Ross was a brother of Mrs Clark and Mrs Dunn.

Fred
A., second son of James W. and Mary Jane Routh, was born
near Grant, Nebr., Feb. 15, 1887. He passed away after a brief illness on Nov.
29, 1965 at
St.
Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., at the age of 78 years, 9 months
and 14 days.
At
the age of six, he moved with his parents to Illinois where he grew to manhood.
On
April 12, 1911 he was united in marriage to Kathryn C. Adcock at North
Henderson, Ill. To this union was born one daughter, Louise.
He
was a faithful member of the Methodist Church since early manhood.
After
farming for fourteen years in Illinois, he moved in 1925 to a farm which he had
purchased near Diagonal, where he continued farming. After retirement,
he
spent many happy winters in Florida. He and his wife also traveled extensively
in this and many foreign countries.
He
was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank and two sisters, Nettle
and Lola.
Left
to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Kathryn, daughter Louise and husband
Harlan Armstrong; a grandson Larry Armstrong and wife Sherri;
two
great grand children David and Evone; also two
brothers Bert and Glen of this vicinity and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be sadly missed by his family and a wide circle of friends both far
near.

Duane
Hugh Tyler, 29, of 2810 Nineteenth Avenue, Marion Iowa, passed away at 9:20 a.
m., Friday, Nov. 5, 1965, in a Cedar Rapids hospital. Funeral services
were
at the Murdoch Chapel in Marlon on Sunday, Nov. 7, conducted by Rev. Marion
Gee, pastor of the Noelridge Park Christian Church.
Graveside services were at the Lenox cemetery Monday, Nov. 8 at 2 p. m.,
conducted by the Rev. James Eddy.
The
son of Victor Hugh and Wilma Choate Tyler, Duane was born Dec. 15, 1935 at
Lenox. On June 11, 1961, he was married to Elaine Hochstetler at Kalona, Iowa.
Mr.
Tyler graduated from Lenox High School with the class of 1954 and enlisted in
the U. S. Marine Corps that spring, serving three years. He graduated
from
the University of Iowa, in 1960 and received his M. A. from there in 1961.
He
moved to Cedar Rapids in 1963 and to Marion in June of 1964. He was a
Computer Programmer for the National Data Processing Corporation in Cedar
Rapids.
He was a member of the Marion Kiwanis Club and Order of Artus in Iowa City.
Surviving
are his wife, a son James Hugh at home; his mother, Mrs. Joe Maynes, Sr., of Lenox and two brothers, Dr. Alan Tyler of
Des Moines, and Paul
R.
Tyler in the college of law at Iowa City.
He
was preceded in death by his father, V. H. Tyler.
The
newspaper at Marlon, Iowa, states that friends may if they wish to contribute
to the research of Hodgkins Disease through Mercy
Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Mrs Everett (Betty) Yockey, about 35 years of age of
Pierson, Iowa died early Thursday following surgery for brain cancer. She leaves in the immediate
family, her husband and two daughters.
Mrs Yockey taught here in Junior High two years, leaving
about four years ago. Twenty-four Lenox
high school students, former students of Mrs Yockey
attended the funeral which was at
Moville, Iowa Monday afternoon.
