Bovaird, Vera Lucille Bunting -

Mrs. Carl (Vera) Bovaird, 59, of rural Lenox, died at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Sunday, May 30th after a short illness. She had been a patient at the hospital 1 day.

Mrs. Bovaird was born in Adams County, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond Bunting and Eva Johnston Bunting on June 23, 1916.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; a son Dean of Lenox; 2 daughters, Marlene Bovaird of Creston and Dolores Wood of Bremerton, Wash., 2 sisters, 1 brother and 4 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., from the Mercer Center Methodist Church with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Interment was in North Fairview cemetery.

There has been a memorial established to the children's department of the Mercer Center Methodist Church.

Bovaird, Vera Lucille Bunting -

Vera Lucille Bunting, the daughter of Raymond and Eva Jackson [Johnston] Bunting, was born June 23, 1916, in Adams County, Iowa, and passed away unexpectedly

May 30, 1976 at Rosary Hospital in Corning at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 7 days.

She was married to Carl Bovaird in the home of her parents on July 13, 1941. This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Thomas (Doloris) Wood of Bremerton,

 Washington, Dean Bovaird of Corning and Marlene Bovaird of Creston. Her entire married life was spent in Adams Co.

She is survived by her husband, Carl, her three children, Doloris and husband Thomas Wood, Dean and wife Diane, and Marlene, and four grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and

Daniel Wood and Joel Bovaird.

Also surviving are two sisters, Merle Burkhalter and husband Arthur of Creston and Mary Bunting of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Wayne Bunting of Corning; and mother-

in-law, Ethel Bovaird of Prescott, brother-in-law  and sister-in-law, Donald and LaVerne Bovaird of Prescott, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, father-in-law, one grandson and one granddaughter.

She was a lifetime member of the Mercer Center United Methodist Church where she served as superintendent and teacher in the Children's department most of her adult

life. She was active in the U.M.W. and has served on the sewing committee. She loved to sew and spent many hours making clothing, quilting and fancy work. Before her marriage

she taught school in Carl and Mercer townships. Her enjoyment was working with her own and other children.

Her greatest pleasure was her grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Center Methodist Church with Rev Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Music was furnished  by Joyce Brown, pianist; Marilyn Beck, vocalist and Helen Brokaw, vocalist.

Casket bearers were Harvey Riley, Harold Riley, Donald Bovaird, Dale Burkhalter, Leon Burkhalter and Earl Burkhalter.

Those in charge of the flowers were Karen Bovaird and Joan Mosby.

Interment was in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox, Iowa.

Bubb, Elsie Einfeldt -

Elsie Bubb, daughter of the late John and Etta (Preston) Einfeldt, was born February 10, 1889, at Davenport, Iowa. At the age of 10, she with her parents, George, her brother,

and Grace, her sister, moved to Lenox, Iowa, where they resided on a farm a number of years.

At 16, she united in the Calvary Methodist Church. Later she took her letter with her husband to the United Presbyterian Church where she is still a member.

She was married to Alonzo Bubb December 24, 1907. They made their home on the farm north of Lenox for several years and then moved to Lenox.

They were blessed with ten children, Donald of Lenox, Esther Hines of West Liberty, Clara McKenny, St. Louis; Lola Schulenberg, Oakland, California; Dorothy, West Liberty;

Harlan Bubb, Bellflower, California, and Irma Jeanne Braymen, Northboro, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Alonzo, 2 sons, Everett and Leonard and one daughter, Lela, one grandson and one great granddaughter.

There were 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

She and her daughter, Dorothy moved to West Liberty, Iowa, January, 1960. to be closer to her daughter and sister, Esther Hines and family.

After falling and breaking her leg Jan. 25, 1975, she had been in Oakwood Home, Muscatine, Iowa; and moved to Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, Iowa. She returned to the hospital April 21, 1976, for further surgery. She died at 2:00 a.m., May 3, 1976.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 5, at 2:00 p.m., from the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox with Rev. Bill Watson officiating.

Music was furnished by Roberta Lockhart, organist and Gwen Maynes, soloist.

Bearers were Leo Miller, Paul Bubb, Danny Bubb, Jerry Bubb, Floyd Van Zandt and Robert Halligan.

Interment was in Stringtown cemetery.

Coulthard, Howard W -

Howard W. Coulthard, age 62, of 916 Chatterton Street, Grinnell, Iowa, died Monday evening, April 19, 1976, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

He was the son of Elmer and Ellabelle Heath Coulthard and was born May 22, 1913 near Lenox, Iowa. He attended rural schools near his home and graduated from Lenox High

School. He also attended a technical school of welding at Marion, Iowa.

On February 24, 1944, he entered the United States Navy and attended the Great Lakes Naval Training Center near Chicago and served on the U.S.S. Louisville in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WW II. Following the war, Mr. Coulthard returned to Grinnell and was associated with Plum Welding and later started his own welding business in Grinnell. He was also employed by the Iowa Liquor Store and Miracle Equipment Company. He was married to Genevieve Vogt Felper on February 12, 1955 at Coining, Iowa. Mr. Coulthard was a member of the American Legion Focht-Tennant Post No. 53, the B. P. 0. Elks Lodge No. 1266, and the Odd Fellows lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; his step-children, Gordon D. Felper of Grinnell; Mrs. James B. (Maxine) Smith of Keokuk; and Mrs. Edward W. (Marjorie) Hajek of Plymouth, Michigan; 8 step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Liddell of Griswold; 2 nephews, Russell Liddell of Griswold and Duane Liddell of Villisca and 2 nieces, Mrs. Harold (Marilyn) Brunk and Mrs. Maron (Jean) Houser of Griswold. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Reynolds officiating. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers were Ariold Baetsle, Robert Maring, Robert Rutherford, Lyle Wiley, Carl Wittrup and Ray Ziegenmeyer.

Burial was in Chester cemetery north of Grinnell.

Memorials in Howard Coulthard's name may be sent to the Smith Funeral Home.

Lynam, Robert Michael -

Robert Michael Lynam, 58, formerly of Lenox, died May 10, 1976; of a massive cerebral hemorrhage. He was a resident of Denver, Colorado.

He was born June 28, 1917, in Lenox, Iowa, the son of James and Amelia Lynam. Mr. Lynam was raised on a farm near Lenox and attended the Lenox schools.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara and son Tom of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Oscar of Corning; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Mary) Sullivan of Massena, Mrs Howard

(Margaret) Jacobs, of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul Lynam of Lenox and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Bernard and brother, Paul.

Funeral services were held in Denver, Colorado. A mass will be offered for Mr. Lynam at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lenox, Iowa, on May 27, 1976 at 8 p.m. Father Daniel O'Connell will officiate.

Pennebaker, Elizabeth M Travis -

Mrs. A. L. (Elizabeth) Pennebaker, 89, of Clearfieid, la., died May 11, 1976 at the Lenox Care Center where she had resided for 18 months. Her funeral was held at the Varner Funeral Home at Clearfield with Richard Prince officiating. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery at Lenox. Mrs. Donna Cribbs furnished the music.

Pallbearers were Robert Basler, Stephen Basler, John Cribbs, Clarence Imel, David Imel and R. G. Pennebaker.

Elizabeth M. Travis, daughter of William M. and Mary E. Young Travis, was born Aug. 31, 1886 at Peru, Iowa. Graduating from Winterset High School and Commercial College

at Des Moines she taught school several years, was secretary to the County Superintendent of Schools and was Winterset City Clerk for some time before she married Adelbert L. Pennebaker July 14, 1927. They moved to the Sharpsburg and Clearfield areas where they engaged in farming until they retired and moved to Clearfield.

Her favorite past time was working with her flowers and creating many beautiful things from the rocks they had gathered on their many vacations.

She was a long time member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Anabel and her husband Thurman Curphey of Sharpsburg, five grandchildren Alan Curphey and his wife Jane of Sharpsburg, Sheryl

Sprague and her husband, Harry of Lenox, Sandra Greene and her husband, Garvin of Yorktown, Indiana and Lloyd Curphey and his wife Avis of Bedford and Eula Ruth Lovejoy and her husband, Alan of Davenport, Iowa. Three sisters Eleanor Sprinkle of Livania, Michigan, Laura Hollen and Louisa T. Sawyer of Winterset, Iowa, a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert, a step-daughter, Ethel Merle and her husband Olin Smith, her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pepper, Howard Goltry -

Howard Goltry Pepper, 68, of Corning, and former Lenox resident, died Monday, May 10th at Rosary hospital in Corning. He had been in ill health for some time.

Mr. Pepper was born Feb. 2, 1908, the son of William and Myrtle Goltry Pepper in Harrisonville, Missouri. He was married to Crissie Lucas Sept. 19, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mike (Jean) Croy of Corning; Mrs. Dan (Cathryn) Thomas of Corning, a sister, Phyllis Bergman of Corning and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a son, David.

Funeral services were hold Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Larkin-Roland  Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. James King officiating.

Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Lenox.

A memorial fund has been established by the family. The home address in Corning is 806 8th Street.

Pepper, Howard Goltry -

Howard Goltry Pepper, son of William and Myrtle Goltry Pepper, was born February 2, 1908 at Harrisonville, Missouri and passed away after a lingering illness on My 10, 1976 at the age of 68 years, 3 mos. and 8 days at the Rosary Hospital in Corning.

At the age of four years the family moved to Iowa to the Guss and Nodaway vicinity. He graduated from Nodaway High School in 1925.

On September 19, 1934 he was united in marriage to Crissie Lucas. To this union three children were born. Their entire married life was spent in Adams and Taylor counties.

He was a member of the Lenox Flying Club. In 1973, because of ill health, they moved from their farm south of Lenox to Corning.

He was preceded in death by one son, David, his parents and one sister, Doris Walter.

He is survived by his wife, Crissie; two daughters, Catheryn and husband Dan Thomas; Jean and husband Mike Croy; 4 grandchildren, Brenda and Brian Thomas, Jeff and

John Croy, and one sister, Phyllis Bergman all of Corning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 12th at 2:00 o'clock from the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev James King, pastor of the First United

Methodist Church of Corning, officiating.

Music was furnished by Norma Paymal, organist; Billie Jean Barker, vocalist and Marilyn Beck, vocalist.

Bearers were Lowell Wilson, Glen Scott, Harry Freeman, Ted King, Russell Vogel and Harold Beck.

Interment was in North Fairview cemetery at Lenox.

Robinson, Mark Lea -

Mark Lea Robinson, 78, died suddenly at his home on Sunday. Mr. Robinson was a retired farmer and had lived in Lenox for six years. Previously he had lived in Bedford

for 30 years and had spent his entire life in Taylor County.

He was born July 1, 1897 at Conway, Iowa to Esquire E. and Agnes Margaret Bannon Robinson. He married Lula May Smith Jan. 21, 1919 and she survives.

Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Wyatt (Arlene) Grimm, Lenox; Mrs. Kenneth (Helen Jean) Morris, Clearfield; Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) John, Conway; Mrs. Robert (Norma) Cobb, St. Joseph, Mo.; and Mrs. Bill (Marjorie) Sanders of Norwalk, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Robinson of Lenox and two sisters, Eva Smith of Coon Rapids and Grace Thuem of Ft. Worth, Texas.

His parents, a brother, three sisters and two great grandchildren preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Tuesday with Fr. Daniel O'Connell celebrating the mass.

Music was furnished by Marian Hughes.

Casket bearers were Jerry Beemer, Howard Rogers, Doyle Robinson, Doyle DeVoe, Vernal Thompson and Leonard Ratliff.

Burial was in East Fairview cemetery.

Robinson, Mark Lea -

Funeral services for Mark Lea Robinson, 78, of Lenox, were held Tuesday morning, May 25th at St. Patrick's Church in Lenox with Rev. Father Daniel O'Connell officiating.

Mr. Robinson died suddenly at his home Sunday, May 23. Interment was at the East Fairview cemetery.

He was born July 1, 1897 at Conway, Iowa, to Squire E and Agnes Bannon Robinson. His entire life was spent in Taylor County with the exception of a few years, when

as a child, the family lived in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

On January 21, 1919 he was married to Lulu May Smith of Sharpsburg at the St. Patrick's Rectory in Lenox. To this union were born five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy) John of Conway; Mrs. Wyatt (Arlene) Grimm of Lenox. Mrs. Kenneth (Helen Jean) Morris of Clearfield, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Cobb of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. Bill (Marjorie) Sanders of Norwalk, Iowa.

The couple made their home on farms in the Conway and Bedford area until 1962 when they moved to their present home in Lenox. Mr. Robinson was an ambitious farmer who enjoyed working in the soil and with his livestock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Blaine, a sister, Dessa Carruthers, two infant sisters and two great grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, their husbands, thirteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, a brother, Frank of Lenox, two sisters, Eva Smith of Coon Rapids, la.

and Grace Thuem of Fort Worth, Texas, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In his retiring years his love for his flowers and garden was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Marian Hughes.

Casket bearers were Jerry Beemer, Howard Rogers, Doyle Robinson, Vernal Thompson, Doyle DeVoe and Leonard Ratliff.

Schaffer, Deryl -

Deryl Schaffer, 61, died Saturday, April 17th at the Rosary hospital in Corning following a short illness. He was born April 8, 1915, on a farm in southern Adams county and died at the age of 61 years and 9 days. He was the third son of William and Alta Nash Schaffer. He spent his early life on the farm with his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

He was united in marriage to Ila Brace on Dec. 24, 1936, at Creston, Iowa. To this union were born 6 children. They are Donna James of Lenox; Deryl, Jr. (Hap) of Council Bluffs; Gladys Adamson of New Haven, Mo.; Doletta Schaffer and Dale Schaffer at home, and Dorinda Sorenson of Fontanelle. Also three sons-in-law, Roger James, Paul Adamson and Allen Sorenson, a daughter-in-law, Susan Schaffer and 11 grandchildren. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing in the yard.

Their early marriage was spent on a farm in the Cromwell and Kent. area.  After leaving the farm Deryl worked at various jobs but still lived on an acreage so that he could

have some livestock and a garden. He worked as a policeman the last few years before becoming unable to work the past 2 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 3 sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, 11 grandchildren and 5 brothers, Kenneth of Lenox, Orville and LaVern of Corning. Leo of Creston and

Harry of Richmond, California; and 2 sisters, Almeda Eggleston of Corning and Velda Hardisty of Kent; also 3 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Music was furnished by Norma Paymal, organist; Billie Jean Barker and Marilyn Beck, vocalists.

Casket bearers were Frank Higgins, Howard Rogers, Dean Schaffer, LaVern Schaffer, Jr., Jake Allbaugh and Danny Eggleston.

Interment was in East Fairview cemetery in Lenox.

Schneider, Raymond Wildman -

Raymond Wildman Schneider, son of Edward Morgan and Mattie Pearl Wildman Schneider, was born in JacksonTownship on the family farm, near Blockton, Iowa on September 12, 1913 and passed away at his daughter's home in Lenox, Iowa, Wednesday, April 14th, 1976 at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Raymond lived his entire life on the home place. He attended the public school and Baptist Church in Bedford, la.

On January 1, 1944 he was united in marriage to Maxine Dunbar at Maryville, Mo., and to this union two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his father and

mother.

Raymond and his wife, Maxine, lived their complete married life on the family farm. He was a good and loving husband and father. He was blessed with four grandchildren,

who in his later years were his greatest pride and joy. His memory will live with those who love him and, he will be remembered for the many good things he stood for. Raymond loved the land and he was happy working year after year on the soil he was born on.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Maxine of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Marvelli and her husband, Melvin of Carlisle, Iowa, Christena Long and her husband,

Richard of Lenox, la.; one brother, Oakley Schneider of Blockton, Iowa; one sister Myrtle Terbell, Bedford, Iowa;; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Daren Long, Branden and Bambi Marvelli, other relatives and a host of friends.

Raymond was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Bedford, Iowa.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held from Shum-Novinger funeral Home in Bedford, Iowa April 17th with Rev. Ollie 0dle officiating.

Music was furnished by Sydney Vogel, Jon Vogel and Pat Larson,

Bearers were Lyndell Streebin, Wilbur Rowe, Robert Sleep, Marvin Sleep, Leonard Irvin and Glen Nicholas.

Honorary bearers were Dean Brown, Herschel Scott, Ray Long, and Donald Kemple

Interment was in Fairview cemetery at Bedford.

Schoenmann, John Lorenzo -

John Lorenzo Schoenmann, son of Lorenzo H. and Leona R. Schoenmann, was born January 15, 1922 at St. Joseph, Mo., and died April 10, 1976 in the Ringgold County

Hospital at Mt. Ayr, Iowa at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 26 days.

John graduated from Blockton Public school in 1939, took a post graduate course and then enlisted in the US Navy in March of 1941. He served 6 years during World War II, the last 3 years his tour of duty was aboard the destroyer, the USS Putnam in the Pacific theater.

On Feb. 17, 1944, he was united in marriage with Betty Ruth Kidney at Kansas City, Kansas. They were blessed with a son, Lynn H. of Lenox, Iowa, and a daughter, Jacqueline of Blockton, Iowa.

His entire life was spent in the Blockton vicinity with the exception of 1 year in Tyler, Texas and 2 years in Thornton, Colo. He was associated with his father in the hardware business and later worked as an insurance agent in Blockton, On September 1967, he assumed the duties as Assistant County Assessor to M. K. Sawyer. On January 1, 1971

he was appointed Taylor Co. Assessor, a position he held at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Blockton, the Iowa State Assessors Association, the Southwest la. Association of Assessors, Taylor County Sheriff's Posse, the V. F. W. Post in Bedford, the American Legion Post in Blockton and served a term as District Vice-Commander of the American Legion.

His hobbies were varied as he had an avid interest in guns, radios and motorcycling. He held membership in the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and was a charter

member of the Defiance Muzzle Loaders Club of Sheridan, Mo. John loved animals and wildlife.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, son Lynn and his wife Peggy of Lenox, daughter Jacqueline and her husband, Harold Norris of Blockton; his grandchildren, Tammy K. and Lonnie Hale Schoenmann, Kevin Dean and Karla Maurine Norris. Being an only child, John was close to Betty's family—William Kidney, wife Alma Lou and family of Tyler, Texas; Denton Kidney, wife Dorothy and family of Clarinda; Joe Kidney, wife Marilyn and family of Clarinda.

Also surviving is an aunt, Mrs. Libby Gunn of Seattle, Washington, 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 5 cousins, other relatives and friends.

Smith, Leslie -

Leslie Smith, 69, a former resident of the Lenox and Cromwell areas died Sunday at his home in Madison, Mo., where he had farmed the past several years. Mr. Smith was

a brother of Mrs. Joe Neuhardt of Lenox.

He was born Sept. 22, 1906 at Kent, the son of W. M. Smith and Anna McCarl Smith. He never married. Another sister, Mrs. Frances Lawson of Pittsburg, Texas and

a brother, Cleo Smith of Moline, Ill., also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14th at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox at 2:00 with Rev. Elmer West officiating.

Music was furnished by Norma Paymal, organist; and Billie Jean Barker and Marilyn Beck, vocalists.

Casket bearers were Russell Wurster, Clarence Olson, Kenneth Schaffer, James Smith, Robert Smith and Joe Neuhardt.

Burial was in the Cromwell cemetery.

Strough, J Ed -

J. Ed Strough, 67, died at Los Angeles, California Monday evening, April 19th. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Ray Cheese of Lenox, who has been in California helping in

his care.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; three daughters, Dee Anne Butcher and children of Nousta, Calif., Judy Morey and children of Glendale, Calif., and Nancy Carnes and children of Humble, Texas.

Ray Cheese flew to California Tuesday to attend the services.

Verlin L. Sweeley, 75, born in Adel, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1899, died at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California Apr. 23rd after a brief illness.

He was the son of Vic. T. and Mary Gilbreath Sweeley. His father, lifelong resident of Adel, published the Dallas Co. Record until his death in 1920. Mr. Sweeley and his mother published the paper until 1929 when they sold it and purchased the Lenox Time Table, Lenox, Iowa,

He was a charter member of the Adel Rotary Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Christian Church. He was also a charter member of the Lenox Rotary Club.

After selling the Lenox Time Table he was for twenty-five years an Internal Revenue Agent in Council Bluffs, Shenandoah and Des Moines, Iowa. He retired in 1967 and moved to Redwood City, Calif.

He was an active member of the Redwood City Friends of the Library, doing volunteer work with talking machines for the blind; active in the local National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a lifetime member of Tri-Centum Lodge No. 300, A.F. & A.M., Shenandoah, Iowa, the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Des Moines, Iowa.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs R. V. (Margaret) Clark, San Carlos, Calif., Mrs. L. E. (Mildred) Derrick, Burlingame, California, an aunt Mrs. B. J. (Blanche) Mclntyre of

Minneapolis, Minn., a nephew, Norman R. Clark, San Jose, California. Details of the services were not included in the notice.

Travis, Sylvia C LeRay -

Mrs. Thomas (Sylvia C.) Travis, 82, of Lenox, died at 8:45 Saturday morning at the Creston Manor nursing home after a long illness.

Sylvia C. LeRay was born at Dickens, Nebraska Aug. 2, 1893. She was the daughter of George William and Anna Mary LeRay. She was married at Holdridge, Nebr., Sept. 4,

1912 to Thomas J. Travis, and resided in that state until 1941.

Survivors include seven sons, Paul L. Travis of Amherst, Nebr.; Thomas C. Travis of Kearney, Nebr.; Mark D. Travis of Riverdale, Nebr.; John S. Travis of Dike, Lloyd

G. Travis of Corning and Bruce V. and Marion G. Travis of Creston; 36 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Two sons, Ross Dean Travis and Paige Byron Travis preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Creston with Norman Hoag, the pastor, officiating.

Casket bearers were grandsons Ronald Travis, Robert Travis, Bruce Travis Jr., David Travis, Russell Travis, Marjon Travis and Byron Travis.

Burial was at Fairview cemetery at Lenox.

Wing, Jessie Maud Morris -

Mrs. Jessie Wing, 89, a resident of the Lenox Care Center for the past 2½ years, died Thursday night about 11 p.m., following a gradual decline in health.

Jessie Maud Wing, daughter of Dr. William Morris and Sarah Caldwell Morris, was born April 21, 1887 in Springfield, Keokuk County, Iowa. She received her early education

in the Springfield school and at the age of 11 moved with her parents to Thornburg, Iowa. She attended high school at nearby Delta, Iowa.

She moved to What Cheer, Iowa in 1904 where she worked as a milliner for the Harlan-Hatcher Milliners until her marriage to Frank Leslie Wing September 27th, 1908.

The family moved to Colfax, Iowa, which remained her home until ten years ago when she moved to Lenox to reside with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams.

She had been a resident at the Lenox Care Center the past two and one-half years.

Survivors include four children, Clarice Darlene Wilson of Ames, Frank Morris Wing of Newton, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Roberts of Albion, Mich.; and Mrs. Jack (Katherine)

Williams of Lenox. Thirteen grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Leslie Wing in 1950, 4 brothers, John Harvey Morris, William Franklin Morris, Ross Caldwell Morris and David Eugene Morris; also 3 sisters, Ella who died in infancy, Mary Jane Garrett and Ena Mae Niswahder. A son, Donald, died in 1969.

Mrs. Wing was a charter member of the United Methodist Church in Colfax, Daughters of Civil War Veterans Memorial Club of Colfax, the WSGS, WCTU, and Order of

Eastern Star. She transferred her membership to the Lenox United Methodist Church in 1966.

She will be greatly >missed by those who knew and loved her so well.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 30th at 1:00 p.m. from the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox with Rey. Floyd Newbrough officiating.

Music was furnished by Norma Paymal, organist and Mildred Walter, soloist.

Bearers were Douglas Wing, John Roberts II, Kelly Williams and honorary bearers were Theodore Wing, Linden Mills and Robert Wilson.

Graveside rites were held in Colfax at 4:00 with burial in the Colfax cemetery.
