Pullman,
Laura Marguerite Miller –
Laura
Marguerite Miller, daughter of Frank H. and Ina P. Miller was born in
Montgomery County, Iowa, November 9, 1901 and. passed away at the
Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Monies on January 22, 1934 at the
age of 32 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Her
childhood days were spent on the farm home near Red Oak, Iowa. She graduated
from Red Oak high school in 1919 and taught school for a few years entering
Simpson college at Indianola in the fall of 1922. Here
were spent many happy days of study, fellowship and dreaming and here began the
companionship which culminated on June 5, 1926, in the marriage to E. LeRoy Pullman . To the happy home
thus made, the. Lord gave two sweet kiddies, David Eugene on August 4, 1927 and
Margaret Louise on December 4, 1930. As the Lady of a Parsonage Home she has
ever proven herself a most loyal lover, faithful mother and capable companion
in service of the Master for
whose sake she
and her sweetheart have sought to pour out their lives together .
Unfortunately,
while her spirit was ever willing her flesh was weak, and she was scarce able
to combat the strenuous life that was hers. But in a beautiful spirit she sought
to ever “give of her best to the master." When it became evident that a
period of treatment and surgery was necessary, she went
bravely to the hospital and calmly submitted to whatever medical skill might deem wise,
declaring in faith "I am trusting it all to our Heavenly Father
and I am not
afraid—His Rod and His Staff comfort Me." But in spite of the expert skill
and loving diligence with which she was attended, the sudden appearance of a
clot of blood, which medical knowledge could not combat, took her beautiful
spirit from the body of pain and death and released it for a more glorious body
such as the Lord has prepared for those who love him.
She leaves
to mourn her passing, a broken-hearted lover and her two lonesome children; her
aged father; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Silverthorne of Orient, la., and Mrs.
Irene Boord of Lamoni,
Iowa; her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Miller of Red Oak, Iowa, who
provided for her a home after the death of her mother on May 13, 1906; and
numerous other relatives and
loving friends. "The Lord moves in a mysterious way, his wonders to perform and
while our human hearts would have their way, seeing that we have such a witness
I as her, of faith and goodness, we feel that we cannot but, I that we shall
seek to run with patience the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus,
the Author and Finisher of our Faith, as we humbly pray."
Funeral
services were held from the Eddyville Methodist church at 10:30 o'clock, Friday
morning, January 26th, conducted by Dr. W. J. Todd, District
Superintendent of the Reformed church in Eddyvine. Rev. W. O. Henn of the Methodist church in Dallas, la., and Dr. F. 0. Edwards of the M. B. church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. A number of other ministers from neighboring
