Home in Bedford Friday afternoon, after which the
body was taken to Waterville, Kan. for burial.

Aram, 84, of Sharpsburg died Sunday evening at the Rosary Hospital in
Corning. Two sisters survive.
Funeral
services were Wednesday at 2 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg with
Rev. Dwight Watkins officiating. Burial in the Lenox Cemetery.

The Lenox
community was shocked when it received word of the sudden death of little
Rodney Charles Brown, 2 year
old son of Mr and Mrs LaVern Brown Thursday, Sept 23 from delayed shock caused by burns received Wednesday
afternoon at the family home 2 miles northwest of Lenox, Iowa.
He was born
Aug 31, 1952 at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, la. He departed this life at
the age of 2 years and 23 days. He
was a sweet
child with a loving disposition and will be greatly missed by all.
He leaves to
mourn his departure, his parents, one sister Arlinda, age 8, and one brother Allen, age 4;
his grandparents,
Mr and Mrs Charles Veatch, Mr and Mrs Joe Brown and one great grandmother, Mrs Arda Crawford of Maryville,
Mo. He
leaves also several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Rodney
Brown, 2 years old, died at his home Thursday at 3:30 p. m. in his sleep. He
had been treated for burns received Wednesday on his face, neck and arms.
Rodney was carried from, a burning hog house by his grandmother, Mrs Charles Veatch. Two older children escaped without injury.
Rodney
was the son of Mr and Mrs La Verne Brown, who live on a farm 2 miles northwest of Lenox. Funeral services were held
Saturday
afternoon at the Church of Christ, Rev Cecil Simonton officiating. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery.
Rodney
was born Aug 31, 1952 and passed away Sept 23, 1954. He is survived by his
parents; a sister, Arlinda, 8; a brother, Allen Joe,
4; his grandparents, Mr and Mrs Chas Veatch and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown.

Mary Aram Eckler, daughter of William and Francis Milner Aram, was
born in Neponset, Illinois, June 15, 1870 and passed away in Des Moines, Iowa December
19, 1954, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, 4 days. She was the last surviving one of eight
children.
Mrs. Eckler attended Normal School in Shenandoah, Iowa and
taught a number of years m Grove Township.
She married
Walter S. Eckler December 15, 1896. To this union were
born 5 children: Merrill D. Eckler, Albert Lea, Min.;
Ward B. Eckler, deceased; Lois Young, Gainesville, Texas; Bertha Beckwith,
Des Moines; and Hazel Deurmyer, Inglewood,
California. Mr. Eckler preceded
her in death having passed away in February, 1946.
Mrs. Eckler was for years an active member of the Christian
church.

Funeral
services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Bender Funeral Home for Mrs Mary Eckler, 83, who died
Sunday night at a nursing home in Des Moines. Rev Edward L Young was the
officiating minister. Interment was in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs Eckler became ill at the Lenox hotel several weeks
ago. She was taken to a Des Moines
hospital and later to a nursing home.
She
was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband, Walter, and a son, Ward,
preceded her in death. Survivors include
3 daughters,
Mrs Lois Young, Gainesville, Tex.; Mrs Bertha Beekwith, Des Moines; Mrs Hazel Durmyre, Inglewood, Calif.; one son, Merrill of Albert Lea,
Minn.; 6 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Mrs. Emma
Gilmore, 97 years of age who had made her home here with her daughter, Mrs.
Maude Anderson, for several years, but had recently been moved to the home of
her son, Paul Gilmore at McCook, Neb. passed away, Friday morning. Funeral services and burial were at St. Paul, Neb. Her husband, John Gilmore passed away several
years ago. She leaves four children,
Mrs. Jesse McCracken of California, R. E. Gilmore of Waco, Neb., Mrs. Maude
Anderson of Gravity and Paul Gilmore of McCook, Neb., besides a number of
grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lou Ann
Haley, daughter of Glen and Evelyn Haley of Lenox, Iowa was born in Rosary
Hospital in Corning Oct 13, 1954 and passed away Friday, Jan 21, 1955 at the
Great Community Hospital in Creston after a few days illness of bronchial
pneumonia.
She leaves
to mourn her early departure her parents; one sister, Kay; one brother, Rex, 3 grandparents, Mrs Clara Stevens and Mr and Mrs Paul Haley; two great grandmothers and numerous
other relatives.
Funeral
services for Lou Ann Haley were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in
Prescott. The Rev Donald
Watkins of
Sharpsburg officiated assisted by Rev Cunningham. Burial was in the Prescott cemetery.

Johnson of Cedar Rapids, father of Russell Johnson, passed away Saturday.
Surviving are his widow, four daughters and one son. Funeral services were to
be Monday. Mr and Mrs Russell Johnson and Ted left Sunday morning to be with the family and attend
services.

Walter Lininger, son of James and Matilda Lininger was born Jan 22, 1880 in Lincoln Twp. NE of Clearfield, and died Monday, Nov
22, 1954 near the place of his birth at the age of 73 years, 10 months. In 1913
he was married to Joy Bailey who survives.
One daughter
was born to this union, Mrs Viva Beard. Besides the
wife and daughter who survive, are two grandsons, Derlin and David Beard. One brother Ralph Lininger of
Westby, Mont.; two sisters, Bertha Schmidt of Des Moines and Stella Wareham of
Creston, and many other relatives.
Funeral
services were held Friday at the Methodist church in Clearfield with interment
in the cemetery NE of Clearfield.

Howard Eno received word of the passing of his sister-in-law, Cora
Viola (Snyder) Mooers, who died Jan 20 in Long Beach,
Calif. Mrs Mooers was born in Adams County, near Carl, la. Dec 13,
1863 and was 91 years, 11 months, 7 days of age. The family lived on a farm
north of Lenox before going to California.
Mrs Ed Parrish
of Corning and Mrs Rose Gillette of the Lenox rest
home are sisters. There were no children.

received by Mrs Clyde Horton that her brother, Ed
Moore, 76, had died in Brush, Colo., Monday, Nov 1. Mr Moore, a former resident of Clearfield, the son of Mr and Mrs Wm A Moore, was born Nov 23, 1878, near Clearfield.
He was
married Oct 23, 1906 to Miss Jennie Burch of Conway who preceded him in death
Sept 1, 1953. He is survived by two brothers, Fred Moore of Couer de Alene, Ida.; and Tom
Moore of Kellerton, and a sister, Mrs Mable Horten of Shannon City.
His parents,
three sisters and three brothers, besides his wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services and burial were at
Brush, Colo.,

Addie Sarah
Hewitt, daughter of James and Elizabeth Jarvis Hewitt, was born near Morning
Sun, Iowa, March 15, 1882, and passed away Aug. 28, 1954 at the Laurel Manor
Nursing Home in Red Oak, Iowa.
She was a
member of the Prairie Star Church. Most
of her life was spent in Adams and Union counties.
On Nov. 4,
1902 she was united in marriage to Frank T. Nisely. To this union one son, Everett was born. She was a patient sufferer of arthritis and
with her husband had spent the last few years at the home of their son and wife
with the exception of 2 ½ years spent in nursing homes.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, 2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Oshell and Mrs. Lillie Madison and two infant brothers.
Leaving to
mourn her passing are her son, Everett and wife Edna, 2 granddaughters, and 2 grandsons,
Mrs. Bill Dunn of Villisca, Mrs. Keith Moore of Malvern, Merrill of the armed
forces and Tommy at home, 3 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson, one
sister, Mrs. Lizzie M. Stewart of Humansville, Mo., one brother, Charles W.
Hewitt of Lenox, a half sister, Mrs. Pearl Maharry of
Clearfield, one step-brother, John E. Thompson of Lenox, besides nieces,
nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral was
held in the Stephen Funeral Home in Villisca and she was laid to rest beside
her husband in the Morgan cemetery. Her
nephews acted as pall bearers.

Reed, born Oct. 28, 1871, passed away Jan 16, 1955, 83 years, 2 months 20 days.
Oldest daughter of W K and Mary Custer who preceded her in death. Born in Henry County and came to
Adams county when a small girl and spent the rest of her life in Adams and
Taylor counties.
Married to
John Charles Freemont Reed Dec 19, 1888 and to this union ten children were born, 2 having preceded her in
death besides her
husband. Those left to mourn her in death: an only sister, Mrs Myrtle Boltz of Texarkana, Texas.
Addis whom
she lived with on the home place where the children all were born: Harry, of Shenandoah, la.; Mary, Des
Moines;
Ralph, Norwalk, la.; Glenn, Ellston, la.; Harley,
Bisbee, N. Dak.; Helen, New Virginia, la.; Johnny,
Lenox, Iowa 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
A life long member of Methodist church. She was a loving mother and a
friend of all who knew her. Ready to help in any worthy
cause. Being a member of the Royal Neighbors for over
50 years which she took active part and enjoyed.
Funeral
services were Wednesday from the Clearfield Methodist church. Burial in Lenox cemetery.

Louise attended the funeral of Dr Wm Saltzman at Rhoades Funeral Home in Mt
Ayr. Mr Saltzman, 88, was a retired osteopath and a cousin of the late Dan Canny.

Underwood received word Saturday of the death of her brother, Ross Sweigard. Ross was reared in Sharpsburg but has lived in
Colorado for many years.

Hixson received word Monday of the death of her father, T S Thibodeaux in Sacramento,
Calif. She left
Monday night to attend services. Her family has been doubly
bereaved in that the death of their mother occurred just 15 days before.

Sad news came direct Friday from Portland, Ore., to Mr and Mrs Chas Wray that John
Wray had passed away Monday, Nov 22 at hospital in Portland where he had been
for four weeks suffering from a heart ailment that could not be relieved.
Burial was last Friday in Portland. Mrs Delia Brown
of Fairmont, Neb., his sister, had been with him since first of October. Mr and Mrs Wray and their family lived
in the Salem vicinity many years, leaving for the west some thirty years ago.
