John Krout died yesterday morning at his home in East River township, at the ripe old age of 82 years. He was one of the first settlers of this county, and for 54 years has lived on the same farm. His desire to be at home has been so great that it is said he never went away any distance and never enjoyed a ride on the railroad.

The funeral took place at 1 pm today conducted by Rev Father Seay who is now 84 years of age and a great friend of the family for long years.
