Mrs. E. E. Kuhn, 71, Dies Here Wednesday
Mrs. E. [lmer] E. [lsworth] Kuhn, 71, died at the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. L. [avelle] Kuhn, in Bedford at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The body was taken to Villisca, where funeral services will be held Friday, that community having been her home for many years.
Mrs. Kuhn had been ill at the home of her son for the past twelve weeks. She resided in Bedford at one time, when her husband, the late E. [lmer] E. [lsworth] Kuhn, was county superintendent of schools.

Hold Funeral Services For Mrs. E. E. Kuhn
Funeral services for Mrs. E. [lmer] E. [lsworth] Kuhn, 71, who died at the home of her son, Thos. L. [avelle] Kuhn in Bedford, Wednesday, March 6, were held at the Methodist church in Villisca, Friday afternoon, March 8, conducted by Rev. Wayne Emory of Nodaway and assisted by Rev. W. F. Clayburg, of Villisca. Burial was in the Villisca cemetery.
Eva May Wise was born in Monroe county, O., Nov. 18, 1863, and came to Page county, Iowa, with her parents in the early 70's. She was married to E. [lmer] E.[lsworth] Kuhn of the North Grove community, Nov. 5, 1885. To them were born five children, four sons and a daughter. One son, Kenneth, died in infancy and the daughter, Mrs. Roscoe [DeForest] Simpson [Grace Lucile], died several years ago.
Surviving with the husband are the three sons, Harold Kuhn of Valentine, Nebr., Thos. L. [avelle] Kuhn of Bedford, and Charles R. [oss] Kuhn of Hepburn; one sister, Mary E. [lizabeth] Orme of Clarinda; three brothers, J. [ohn] W. [illiam] Wise and C.[harles] H. [omer] Wise of Villisca, and M. [ason] M. [anning] Wise of Norfolk, Nebr. There are also eleven grandchildren.
Mrs. Kuhn was a member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Eliza I. Jenkins
Eliza Isadora Golder was born on April 10,1842, in Woodstock, Illinois. She passed away March 6, 1935 at Colville, Washington, at the home of her daughter, Ella Golder, aged nearly 93 years.
She moved with her parents at the age of eight years to Sterling, Ill. She was married to Mr. Lewis C. Jenkins in 1862. To the union, ten children ware born, of whom six are still living: —Wm. A. Jenkins, of Rockport, Missouri; Lottie Bowen Emmitt of San Angelo, Texas; Ella Golder, Colville, Wash.; Robert Jenkins, of Douglas, Wyo.; Lewis Jenkins of Helena, Arkansas; and Mrs. Alice Creekmore, Amarillo, Texas. She has eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her father's family to go hence.
In 1880 she moved with her family to a farm in Gay Township, Taylor county, Iowa, where they resided for about a quarter-century. They then made their home in Clearfield until about 5 years after her husband's death in August 1920. Since that time she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. John F. Golder, where she was at the time of her death.
Mrs. Jenkins was always a consistent Christian, loving her church next to her God and her family. She had been a member of the M. E. Church of Clearfield for many years.
The body was brought back to Iowa and to Clearfield that its final rest might be in the family lot in Clearfield Cemetery.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, at 2:00 on Monday, March 11th, conducted by the pastor Rev. John C. Turner. Beautiful flowers attested the love of relatives and friends. Singing was by a quartet—Mrs. J. M. Stephenson, Mrs. A. J. Abarr, Messrs. E. C. Heaton and L. H. Andrews. Pallbearers were U. S. Grant, J. E. Duncan, Alpha Clark, E. A. Cochran, Joe Cooper and H. O. Calkin.

Mrs. L. C. Jenkins Succumbs In Washington State
Mrs. L. [ewis] C. Jenkins [Eliza Isadora Golder], a former resident of Clearfield, died Wednesday, March 6, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Golder in Colville, Wash. The body was returned to Clearfield where funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Monday afternoon, March 11, conducted by Rev. John C. Turner. Burial was in the Clearfield cemetery.
Six children survive. They are William Jenkins of Rockport, Mo.; Lottie Bowen Emmitt of San Angelo, Texas; Ella Golder of Colville, Wash.; Robert Jenkins of Douglas, Wyo.; Lewis Jenkins of Helena, Ark.; and Alice Creekmore of Amarillo, Texas.

Isaac P. Carmichael Dies At Maryville
Isaac P. [erry] Carmichael, 59, died Saturday evening, March 16 at the St. Francis hospital in Maryville, following an extended illness.
The Carmichael home is east of Maryville and he was taken to the hospital only a short time before his death. The funeral services were held at the Campbell Funeral home Monday forenoon, conducted by Rev. A. L. Harper of the East Side Baptist church. Burial was in the Hopkins cemetery.
He was born May 6, 1875 near Clearmont, Mo. Surviving relatives are the wife, a daughter, Mrs. Guy Wray of Gravity; three sons, Homer Carmichael and Perry Carmichael of Bedford, and Arthur Carmichael of Paonia, Colo. There are also two sisters, Mrs. John Parks [Rachael Carmichael] of Bedford and Mrs. Martha [Magdalene] Davis of Lincoln; two brothers, Jacob S. [tarling] Carmichael of Omaha and Joseph Carmichael of Houston, Texas, and sixteen grandchildren.

Mrs. Martha Davis of Lincoln, Nebr., came Friday for a visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Parks [Rachael Carmichael]. She was called here on account of the illness of her brother, Isaac P. [erry] Carmichael at Maryville, who died Saturday.

PIONEER RESIDENT DIES
George Lyddon Succumbs—Resident Here 57 Years
George Lyddon, 86, died at his home Friday, March 15. He had been a resident of the Clearfield community about 57 years.
He is survived by his wife and four children, Delbert Eugene, Maude Gertrude, Lee Ellsworth and Iva Pearl, all of this community, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the home, south of Clearfield, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. O. Nystrand, assisted by Rev. John C. Turner. Burial was in the Clearfield cemetery.

Obituary
George Lyddon, son of John and Hanna [Franklin] Lyddon, was born in Warren County, Illinois, February 21, 1849, and died at his home southwest of Clearfield, Iowa, March 15, 1935, aged 86 years, 1 month and 13 days.
On November 9th, 1874 he was married to Jennie Bicknell. To this union were given seven children, Delbert Eugene, Maude Gertrude, Lee Ellsworth, and Iva Pearl; and three that died in infancy.
After his marriage, he lived for four years near Alexis, Illinois and then moved to Iowa. They lived for one year ½ mile south of Clearfield on the county line and then moved to the present home, were he has lived for 55 years. He was the last of a family of three sisters and six brothers.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife who has stood by his side for sixty years, two daughters, two sons, two grand-daughters, Helen and Hilda Lyddon, and three grandsons, Ralph, Richard, and Dean, whom he cherished very dearly; also many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home 2:00 on Sunday, conducted by Rev. Philip Nystrand, assisted by Rev. J. C. Turner. Music was by Mrs. Will Williams, Mrs. Joe Barrans, J. R. Crew and Don Green. The pallbearers were six nephews: Ned, Harry, John and Orville Lyddon, George and Chas. Cheese. The interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.

Mrs. J. G. Dowlin Dead
Mrs. J. [osiah] G. [wynne] Dowlin [Jessie Hartley], a life-long resident of this community, died February 28, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.[erbert] E. Rich [Gladys] of Des Moines.
She is survived by her husband, her son, John [Lewis] Dowlin, of Compton, California; two daughters, Mrs. H. [erbert] E. Rich [Gladys], of Des Moines, and Virginia Dowlin, of Shenandoah, and three grandchildren, Jack and Ann Dowlin, and Herbert Rich.
The funeral services were conducted from the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. E. E. Stringfellow of Des Moines, her former pastor. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Blockton.

Mrs. Dowlin is survived by three children, John [Lewis] Dowlin of Compton, Calif., Mrs. H. [erbert] E. Rich [Gladys] of Des Moines, and Miss Virginia Dowlin, who teaches in Shenandoah. There are also three grandchildren, Jack and Ann Dowlin and Herbert Rich.

Mrs. M. Ledgerwood Dies in Blockton
Mrs. Mary [Elizabeth Miller] Ledgerwood, 86, died at her home in Blockton Sunday, March 3. The funeral services were held at the Christian church in Blockton Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Charles Showalter. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Ledgerwood was the mother of nine children, eight of whom survive. They are Mrs. Effie Messler and Mrs. Charity Carlson of Diagonal; Mrs. Jessie Spooner of Arkansas City, Kans.; Pearl Ledgerwood of Haleyville, Okla.; Luther Ledgerwood of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Huntley and Joe Ledgerwood of
Blockton.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Mrs. Robt. A. [tkinson] Taylor, Sr. [Martha Miller], and Curtis C. Bent of Bedford. Mr. Ledgerwood died Dec. 22, 1918.

Obituary
Mary E. [lizabeth] Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry [Lewis] Miller [Elizabeth Ann Hiles], was born near Bedford, Iowa, May 1, 1848, and departed this life March 3, 1935, at her home in Blockton, Iowa, aged 86 years, 10 months and 3 days.
All her life was spent in Taylor county, Iowa, with the exception of about six months at Savannah, Mo. On January 1, 1871, she was united in marriage to Joseph F. [ranklin] Ledgerwood. To this union nine children were born, June N. dying in infancy. Eight children survive her—Mrs. Effie Messler and Mrs. Charity Carlson, of Diagonal; Mrs. Jessie Spooner, of Arkansas City, Kansas; Pearl Ledgerwood, of Haleyville, Oklahoma; John H. Ledgerwood, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Luther Ledgerwood, of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Mary Huntley and Joe Ledgerwood, of Blockton. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1918.
She leaves to mourn her death her eight children, 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one sister, and one brother, Mrs. Robert Taylor [Martha Miller] and Curtis Bent, both of Bedford, and a host of friends.
She united with the Christian church when 18 years of age at Bedford, later transferring her membership to Clearfield and then to Blockton.
The first years of her married life was spent in Bedford. Later they moved to a farm about 81/2 miles northwest of Blockton. About thirty years was spent in that locality. They moved to Blockton March 6, 1906, and resided here until their deaths.
She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and her going will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

And worlds of mothers I had met
My choice would still be you.''
Funeral services were held at the Christian church yesterday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Chas. Showalter, and interment in Rose Hill cemetery, Blockton.

Bedford Men Killed
A. [lonzo] W. [illiam] Dougherty, 42, and Charles [Edward] Wieser, 35, of Bedford, were killed in an automobile accident near Tekamah, Nebr., Sunday night and Claude Bohannon, 40, of Omaha, Nebr., was injured. Dougherty and Wieser left Bedford for Shenandoah after auto parts is the way the story goes, and Bohannon seems to have been with them when the car failed to make a turn in the road and struck a telephone pole near Tekamah.

Mrs. J. M. Baird Dead
Mrs. J. [ames] M. [onroe] Baird [Elizabeth Frances Crouch], mother of Mrs. W.[illiam] A. [lfred] Jordan [Leona] of this place, passed away at her home in Redding on Tuesday evening of last week at the age of 80 years. Mrs. Baird has been in poor health for some time but her sudden death came as a shock to her relatives and friends. Mrs. Baird has been a life-long resident of the Redding community. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Obituary
Elizabeth Frances Crouch, daughter of J. [ohn] W. [esley] and Margaret [Ralston] Crouch, was born in Davis County, Iowa, August 23, 1855, and passed away at her home in Redding March 5, 1935, at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 10 days.
When only a small child her parents moved to Ringgold County and here she grew to womanhood. When thirteen years of age she became a member of the Christian church and remained devoted to that faith during her entire life.
On Jan. 27, 1877, she was united in marriage to James M. [onroe] Baird and to this union twelve children were born.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. E. [lmer] E. [lsworth] Williams [Olive], of Redding; Mrs. R. [oy] E. [dgar] Sellers [Milla Belle], of Maryville, Mo.; Mrs. W. [illiam] A.[lfred] Jordan [Leona], of Blockton; Mrs. Glen [Lee] McKnight [Ella], of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. P. [aul] D. [avid] Tapscott [Eva], of Lamoni; two sons, J. [esse] D. [ean] Baird, of Redding, and F.[rank] D. Baird, of Hutchinson, Kansas; one brother, J.[ohn] M. [arion] Crouch, of Redding; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home in Mount Ayr Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the minister of the Mount Ayr Christian church, and interment was made in the Redding cemetery.
