Obituary

Died June 4, 1900, at his home six miles northwest of Bedford, Perry Price, aged 83 years, one month and 29 days.  Mr. Price had suffered intense pain for about four weeks, but stood it all patiently.  All that medical aid could do was done to preserve his life but to no avail.  To know him was to love him, and he will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends, especially at the church of Gilead of which he has been a member for so many years.  Mr. Price will long be remembered as one of the early settlers of this country, and had lived a good Christian life to a good old age, and we hope his loss will be a warning to others, that they may be also ready to go when they are called.  Funeral services were held at the church June 5, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Kirkendall.  He leaves a loving wife [Mary Elizabeth Smith], and eleven children, besides many other relatives and friends to mourn, but not as those who have no hope.  Remains were laid to rest in the Titus [Graceland] cemetery.

It will all be right in the morning

We murmured then tho' the night

As we watched him heavily breathin'

And longed for the coming light.

It came with its golden sunshine.

We turned to our father's bed

To kiss his lips as a welcome

But found our father dead

Like a flower that buds and blossoms

And blooms

Then fades and withers and dies,

His mission here has likewise filled

And is worthy a home in the skies.

                                                A Friend.
