PAUL (BILL) DEAN MYERS

Paul Dean Myers entered this world on November 25, 1929 to his parents, Paul and Geraldine Hays Myers in Taylor County, Iowa. He departed this world on February 24, 2002, at the age of 72 years and three months.

Except for the time he served in the Army, Paul lived in the Blockton area. On March 24, 1955, he was inducted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on March 26, 1957.

While working construction in 1957, Bill met and wed Marcella Gray. They later divorced but were blessed with three daughters, Charlotte, Charlene and Darlene.

Bill, also known by some as "Footspeed" never met a stranger. Maybe that is why he liked to repair vehicles, work construction or drive an 18-wheeler. He could tell stories about dancing at the 169 Club in Caldwells; out running the cops with Lloyd Smith; the mountain oyster fries that the Legion men held and the fish he caught in the Platte River. When mushroom hunting season started, Bill was the first one to have a mushroom.

Due to declining health the last several years, Bill was limited to spending time with his family; playing with and loving his dogs; riding his 4-wheeler and having a "cold one with his friends".

Passing before Bill was his father, Paul Myers; mother, Geraldine Weaver; and his two half brothers, Gerald and Ed Jennings.

Left to cherish his memories are his three daughter [s], Charlotte and husband Jim Pearce of Blockton; Charlene and husband, Keith Pearce of Osceola; and Darlene Myers and Doyle Fry of Creston; his five pride and joy grandchildren, Mike, Lee, Greg, Mark and Shondel Pearce; half brother, Frances (Goph) Jennings; and sister-in-law, Donna Jennings, as well as many friends.'

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, MO, with Rev. Scott Marcum officiating. Military Rites were held by Blockton American Legion, Post #443. Interment was at the Athelstan Cemetery in Athelstan, IA.
