While not a record, the seventy-five years spent in Iowa by Mr. N. [athan] R. Riley who died last week is a long long time. Coming to the state in 1850, he saw a frontier commonwealth grow into the empire of today. That was the year after the gold rush to California, ten years before Lincoln was elected president, and at a time when the population of the state was little over 200,000.

Mr. N. [athan] R. Riley, one of the oldest citizens of Taylor County in time of residence, died at his home just after two Friday morning, of pneumonia. He was past 80 years of age. A complete obituary appears in another column this week.

Howard Riley arrived Sunday morning from New Mexico to attend the funeral of his father.
