[Mabel Moore Horton]

Mabel Horton Rites July 16

Funeral services for Mabel Moore Horton, 75, long time Taylor County resident, were conducted July 16 at the Clearfield Christian Church with Rev. Ruegseggar officiating.  Mrs. Horton died at her home in Clearfield July 14.  Interment was at the Clearfield Cemetery.

Mabel Moore, youngest daughter of William Augustus and Mary Jane Moore, was born March 24, 1890, at a farm south of Clearfield.

She was a member of the Christian Church in Clearfield and lived her life in service to her family and friends.

On Sept. 1, 1908, she was united in marriage to Clyde W. Horton.  To this union were born five children: Carlos (Bill); Caroll (Pete); Mrs. John (Helen Lou) Duey all of Clearfield, and Mrs. Raymond (Isabel) Trost of Lenox, and one daughter, Mary Mae, who died in infancy.

With the exception of one year near Clearfield, South Dakota, the family lived on farms in Taylor County until retirement in 1957, when they move to their present home in Clearfield.

Her husband, Clyde, preceded her in death about two years ago as well as six brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her children; two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was interested in church and community activities.

Russell Henderson of Northboro Dies

Russell Henderson, 56, of Northboro, Iowa, and a former resident of the Bedford community, died in Hand hospital, Shenandoah, August 18 after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Northboro, Tuesday afternoon, August 21.  Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery there.

Mr. and Mrs. Henderson and their daughter [Betty], who is now Mrs. Virgil McKim of Bedford, lived in Jackson Township, southeast of Bedford for a number of years.  Mrs. Henderson died in 1945.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his second wife, who lives in Northboro; by the daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil McKim; his aged mother at Northboro; two sisters and one brother.

Bernie Bradley Died In California

B. G. Bradley, 1878 Capri avenue, Mentone, Calif., died in San Bernardino recently after a long illness.  He was 52 years old, a native of Iowa and a resident of Mentone four years.

 Mr. Bradley first went to Redlands in 1923 and worked there for several years before going to Los Angeles.  In 1944 he and Mrs. Bradley made their home in San Timoteo canyon and lived there until 1952 when they moved to Mentone.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.  He leaves his wife, Mildred Bradley, and the following brother and sisters: Roe Bradley of Clarinda; Mrs. Vera Putnam of Bedford; Mrs. Lela Catuska of Spokane, Wash.

Rolla Ellis Found Dead At Home Sunday

Rolla R. Ellis, 59, was found dead Sunday forenoon at his farm home in the East Mission community, where he lived alone.  It was thought that he had passed away about 12 hours earlier.  He is survived by several grown children.

Last rites were held at the Roland Funeral Home in Corning Wednesday afternoon with burial in Quincy cemetery near there.

[Martha Sleeth Ailshie]

Died.

Mrs. Martha [Sleeth] Alshie [Ailshie], wife of John Alshie [Ailshie], died of pneumonia at her home in Jefferson township, on Wednesday June 5, 1895, aged 52 years.

Funeral services were conducted from the residence on Thursday, June 7th, and the remains interred in the Athelstan cemetery.

Mrs. Alshie [Ailshie] was highly respected by the community in which she lived, a large number of whom attended her funeral.

A. W. Umbanhower Dead.

A. W. Umbanhower, at one time conducting a meat market here, died at St. Joe last week.  The Hopkins Journal says:

Wayne Umbanhower, for many years a resident of Hopkins, died suddenly in St. Joseph last Friday, and the remains were brought here for burial, the funeral services being held at the home of his sister, Mrs. George Worley, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. K. J. Cardy, pastor of the Presbyterian church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Hopkins cemetery.

Anthony Wayne Umbanhower was born in Henry County, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1843, and died Oct. 9, 1908, aged 64 years, and 10 months.  He was married to Mary Jane Williams in 1869 and to this union was born 11 children.  His wife died in 1898.  Eight of the eleven children are living.

Mr. M. [artin] V. King and family have been called upon to mourn the loss of another little one.  The funeral was attended on Thursday last [December 27th].  Mr. and Mrs. King [Sarah Long] have the heartfelt sympathy of this entire community in their bereavement.
