Bedford Times-Press Thursday October 5, 1972 [p. 1] Final Rites Held Wednesday for Glade Keith Funeral services for Glade Keith, 79, of Bedford, were held Wed., Oct. 4, at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home here, conducted by Carl Cummings and Gil Peters of the Church of Christ in Maryville. Mr. Keith died Monday at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery. Bedford Times-Press Thursday October 12, 1972 p. 7 Glade Keith Last Rites Held October 4 Funeral services for Glade Keith, 79, of Bedford, lifetime Taylor County resident, were held October 4 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Carl Cummings and Gil Peters officiating. Mr. Keith died October 2, 1972, at Municipal Hospital in Clarinda. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Glade Keith, son of Silas and Mary Jane John Keith, was born in Ross Township, Taylor County, Iowa, April 18, 1893. He moved with his parents to Bedford when he was five years old and here he grew to adulthood. He attended the public schools and was active in the various community activities. On May 5, 1917, he was united in marriage to Gail Reece and to them were born three children: James, Marjorie and Lois Jean. They were engaged in farming in the Blockton area for several years, moving to the farm south of Bedford where they resided from 1928 until they moved into Bedford in 1968; here they have continued to reside. He was employed by the Taylor County A. S. C. for 15 years prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lois Jean Rush, two sisters, Florence Snyder and Ruth Cheshire, one brother, Theron Keith, a granddaughter, Jana Keith, and a grandson, Alan Deal. Left to cherish memories of his good life are his wife, Gail; son, James R. [eece] Keith of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Marjorie Ginn of Boone, Iowa; two sisters, Minnie Journey and Mildred Spencer, both of Bedford; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was a member of the Berea church of Christ. He was a kind, loving and considerate, husband and father, brother, friend and neighbor, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bedford Times-Press Thursday November 15, 1973 p. 6 Guy Roy Brown, 85, Final Rites Held November 15 Funeral services for Guy Roy Brown, 85, of Lenox, will be held Thurs., Nov. 15, at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Nelson Wallace of Lenox officiating. Mr. Brown died November 12 at Crest Haven Nursing Home in Creston. Interment will be at Washington Cemetery, Gravity. Included in Mr. Brown's survivors are his wife, Susie, son, Harold Brown, and daughter, Mrs. Irene Kadeau, both of Detroit, Mich. [Brown, Guy Roy] Lenox Time Table Thursday November 15, 1973 [p. 1] Guy Brown Died Monday Guy Brown, 85, a resident of Lenox for about 8 years, died at the Creston nursing home in Creston Monday, Nov. 12th. Mr. Brown had been in ill health for several years as a result of hardening of the arteries and complications. Funeral services will be today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Shum-Novinger funeral home in Bedford. Burial will be in the cemetery at Gravity, Iowa. [Brown, Guy Roy] Lenox Time Table Thursday November 22, 1973 [p. 1] Final Rites For Guy Brown Final rites were held for Guy Brown, Lenox resident, at Shum-Novinger Funeral home in Bedford Thursday, Nov. 15th at 2 p. m. Guy Roy Brown, youngest child of David [Anderson] and Mattie [Martha A. Freeman] Brown, was born near Sharpsburg, Iowa, Aug. 13, 1888, and passed away Nov. 12, 1973 at the Crest Haven Care Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of 85 years and 3 months On Oct. 29th, 1913, he was united in marriage to Grace Piper of Sharpsburg, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Irene Kadau and Harold Brown of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, two sons-in-law, Harold Campbell in 1950 and Carles Kadau in 1970, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. In 1942 he was united in marriage to Susie Taylor of Lenox. He is survived by his wife, 2 children, Irene Kadau, Harold and wife Leona, four grandchildren, Rodric Campbell and wife JoAnn, Stephen, Dennis and Barbara Brown, two great grandchildren, Scott, and Todd Campbell a host of relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rev. Wallace Nelson, pastor of the Lenox Presbyterian Church officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Linda Spring, soloist and Donna Cribbs, organist. Bearers were Bob Brown, Donald Trost, Robert Brown, Donald Donaldson, Richard Fitzgerald and Francis Brown. Burial was in Washington cemetery at Gravity, Iowa. Bedford Times-Press Thursday March 18, 1976 p. 4 Edith Carlton, 86, Dies In New Mexico A memorial service for Mrs. C. C. (Edith) Carlton, 86, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a former Bedford resident and widow of the late C. [ecil] C. [laire] Carlton, Clearfield banker, will be held Fri., Mar. 19, in Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Mrs. Carlton died March 12 in a hospital in Albuquerque. Her survivors include a daughter, Catherine Cofer, and her husband, Don H. Cofer; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Bedford Times-Press Thursday March 25, 1976 p. 11 Memorial Service For Edith Carlton In New Mexico A memorial service for Mrs. C. C. (Edith) Carlton, 86, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a former Bedford resident and widow of the late C. [ecil] C. [laire] Carlton, Clearfield banker, was held March 19 in Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Mrs. Carlton died March 12 in the Four Season's Nursing Home in Albuquerque where she had been for two weeks. Edith Buchanan Carlton was born in Taylor County October 3, 1889. She was the daughter of Eudora Darlington Buchanan of West Branch, Iowa, and Theodore Calhoun Buchanan of Washington County, Penn. In October 1908, she married Cecil Claire Carlton, a son of Irish immigrants and a native of Taylor County. To them were born two daughters and one son, Pauline Carlton Thompson, Donald Edward Carlton and Catherine Carlton Cofer. The Carltons lived in Clearfield where Mr. Carlton was a banker with First National Bank of Clearfield. They moved to Bedford in 1934 and Mr. Carlton went into [the] real estate business. Edith Carlton was lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of the P. E. O. Sisterhood. After the death of her husband in 1947 she lived alternately with her two daughters' families, Pauline in Bedford and Catherine in Albuquerque. Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Pauline, son, Donald, three sisters, Lois Aitken, Edna Brown and Anne Williams and one brother, Hugh Buchanan. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine, and husband, Don H. Cofer of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, David Thompson, San Francisco, Edward Thompson, Iowa City, Michael Thompson, Albuquerque, Rebecca Anne Cofer Shryock of San Antonio, Texas; and three nephews, T. C. Buchanan, Denver, Bob Williams, Clarinda, and Paul Brown, Clearfield. Her family and friends will cherish Mrs. Carlton's pleasant mien, unselfish outlook, sense of humor and positive philosophy of life. |
