Frank W. Bailie Dies At Home Here

Grain Dealer Had Been Resident of Taylor County for 67 Years

Frank W. Bailie died at his home in south Bedford early Friday morning, following an illness of several weeks.  The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Clark M. Crowell.  Burial was in the Bedford cemetery.

Mr. Bailie was born August 26, 1853, and moved from the state of Ohio to Taylor County in the year 1866.  Twenty-five years of his life were spent in Jackson Township and practically forty-five years in Bedford.  For the past ten years he had been engaged in the grain business and prior to that was in the drug business for many years.

He was one of a family of five children, three brothers, William, Charlie, and George having preceded him in death and a sister, Mrs. Mamie Savage, who resides in Salem, Oregon.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nora [Thompson] Bailie of Bedford, a niece, Mrs. Roy Meikle [Mary Madge Bailie] of Bedford, and several nieces and nephews in Oregon.

Helene Guthrie Dies

Miss Helene Guthrie, 27, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Guthrie of Los Angeles, Calif., died Friday, Dec. 15, at her home in California.  She had been ill with heart trouble for some time.  Miss Guthrie was a niece of the Thompsons in Bedford, her mother being remembered here as Miss Nelle [Helen] Thompson.

Harry Guthrie Dies

Was Long-Time Resident Of Braddyville, Iowa

The death of Harry Guthrie occurred at the home of his son Alpha Guthrie here Monday morning following several weeks' illness.  He was seventy-seven years old.  He was born at Braddyville, Iowa, and until recently spent his entire life there.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Higgins of Shenandoah and Mrs. Carrie Gillespie of Braddyville; four sons, Lee Guthrie and Alpha Guthrie of Hopkins; Clymen Guthrie of Greeley, Colo.; and Vernon Guthrie of Braddyville.

Mrs. E. H. Simpson

Alice May Salen, daughter of Robert and Marilla Jane Salen, was born Jan. 28, 1867 in

Bedford, Iowa, and passed away at Baxter Springs, Kans., Friday, Nov. 12, 1937.

She was married to Eugene Harlan Simpson, Oct. 15, 1885.  To them were born five children, four daughters and one son.  They are Miss Ethel May Simpson of Nevada, Iowa, Mrs. Florence Thompson of Baxter Springs, Kans., Mrs. Irene Webster of Fort Worth, Texas, Paul Simpson of Bedford, and Mrs. Helen Schiveley of Albuquerque, N. Mex.  Mr. Simpson died several years ago.

Surviving with the children are one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Gant of New Market, Arthur Salen and Albert Salen of Bedford.

Soon after her marriage, Mrs. Simpson united with the Gilead Methodist church and remained a member of the Methodist church until her death.

The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. Overhulser.  Burial was in the Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Nendick Dies In Omaha

Mrs. Sarah E. [lizabeth] Nendick of Omaha died at her home recently, according to word received in Bedford Wednesday.  The body is being brought to Bedford and the funeral services will be held at the Wetmore Funeral Home at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, Nov. 26, conducted by Rev. C. Max Buck.

Mrs. Nendick is a former resident of Bedford.  She is the mother of Mrs. W. [illiam] T. Dallison [Winnie Fay] of Ottawa, Kans.

Mrs. Anna Kemery Dies At Blockton

Mrs. Anna Kemery died at her home in Blockton Thursday, March 24, after having been in ill health for some time.

The funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Blockton Sunday afternoon, March 27, conducted by Rev. Mr. Nichols of St. Joseph.  Burial was in the Forest Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Kemery is survived by one son and four daughters.  They are Floyd Kemery of Freeport, Ill., Miss Ode Kemery and Mrs. R. [obert] O. [rr] Ford [Georgia] of Blockton, Mrs. Frank Amrine [Osta] of Hocomo, Mo., and Mrs. Cliff Bothel [Rosa] of Denver, Colo.

Obituary

 Mrs. Anna Kemery

Anna I. [owa] Allcott, daughter of Austin and Ann Allcott, was born in Wapello County, Iowa, August 21, 1858, and died at her home in Blockton March 24, 1938, aged 79 years, 7 months and 3 days.

She was united in marriage to B. [enjamin] F. [ranklin] Kemery, August 21, 1877, who preceded her in death in November 1917.

To them were born nine children, three dying in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Mattie Davidson, of Wichita, Kans., in 1934.  The surviving are Mrs. Osta Amrine of Hocomo, Mo., Miss Ode Kemery of Blockton, Mrs. Rosa Bothel of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Georgia Ford of Blockton, and Floyd Kemery of Chicago.

She was a kind and loving mother, and a faithful member of the Christian church while her health permitted.

Besides her immediate family she leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Blockton Christian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B. B. Nichols.  Burial was in the Forest Grove cemetery.
