[Sarilda Jane Farrell Gartside]

Rites Held For Mrs. Gartside

Funeral services for Mrs. Oren Miles (Sarilda Jane) Gartside, 87, formerly of Sheridan, Mo., were held at the Sheridan Christian Church July 30, conducted by Rev. [word missing] Colville.  Mrs. Gartside died at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville July 27, 1969.  Interment was at Luteston Cemetery.

Sarilda Jane Farrell Gartside, daughter of Patrick and Matilda Farrell, was born April 26, 1882, on a farm north of Sheridan where she attended Risser School and where she grew to womanhood.

She was christened in the Catholic Church when a small child.

She was united in marriage to Oren Miles Gartside November 29, 1905.  To this union five children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Ronald Oren, and one grandson, Oren Blace.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Larison, Bedford, and Mrs. Hardie Lyle, Sheridan, two sons, Galen Gartside, Trenton, Mo., and Oakley Gartside, Parnell, Mo., 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, Johnnie Farrell, of Sheridan.

Most of her life was spent in the Sheridan vicinity and after the death of her husband she made her home with her children.  She was always ready with a helping hand in case of sickness.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her loved ones.  She was always a great company for her grandchildren.

Final Rites Held April 14 For William Park

Funeral services for William McKinley Park, 72, long time Taylor County resident, were held April 14 at the United Methodist Church here conducted by Rev. Richard G. Viney.  Mr. Park died April 11, 1969, at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda, Iowa.  Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

William McKinley Park, son of Thomas and Mary Montgomery Park, was born Nov. 6, 1896, at Petersburg, Ill.  At the age of four he moved with his family to Taylor County where he has resided ever since.

He was married to Alice Payton on February 26, 1925.  To this union was born one son, Robert William Park.

He farmed in the Bedford area all of his adult life until ill health caused him to retire several years ago.

He was a member of the Bedford Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Mr. Park was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anna [Perkins] Berry, and a brother, Thomas, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Jeanne; grandchildren, Craig, Kim and Beth; two brothers, Finis and Arthur.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his many friends.

John Kimpton, 84, Rites Held Mon.

Funeral services for John A. Kimpton, 84, of Gravity, were held Monday at the Gravity Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Buff Scott, Jr.  Mr. Kimpton died December 20 at North Gate Manor in Corning.  Interment was at Guss Cemetery, Guss, Iowa.

John A. Kimpton was born Sept. 27, 1884, in Taylor County, Iowa, near Guss, to Cornelius Phillip Kimpton and Emma Ackerman Kimpton.

He grew up with his three brothers and two sisters on the farm where he was born.

He completed the eight grades at Skinner school.  He spent most of his life farming in the vicinity of Gravity with the exception of three years spent working at the Mental Health Institution at Clarinda.

On Dec. 26, 1906, he was united in marriage to Ethel Clara Beery.  To this union seven children were born: Homer Kimpton of Gravity; Mrs. C. L. (Edith) Hendrickson of Lenox; Wilbur Kimpton of Council Bluffs; Paul Kimpton who died in 1923 at the age of 10 years; Mrs. Lex (Vida) Snyder of Winterset; Mrs. Byron (Iva) Heller of Burlington, Jct., Mo.; and Mrs. Carl (Lois) Anderson of Winterset.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Ethel, his son Paul, a grandson, Homer Kirk Kimpton, his parents; two brothers, Frank and Fred; two sisters, Margaret Wheeler and Jessie Rogers; one half brother, Charles and six half sisters: Fannie Kimpton, Allie Hummel, Jennie French, Edna Garsutch, Lucia Marsell and Nellie White.

He is survived by his children; four sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one brother, Wallace, and wife of Sterlington, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
