Obituary - Bruce Jared

     Bruce Jared was born Nov. 14, 1856 in Paris, Illinois, and died Thursday, May 11, 1944 at Bedford, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 27 days.
     He was the son of Marshall and Mary Ann Jared and lived with his parents until he was 20 years of age, when he came to Taylor county where he had since lived.
     On April 21, 1881 he was married to Josephine Scrivner. To them were born six children two of whom preceded him in death: Elva Wolverton and Ora Jared. Mrs Jared died January 4, 1943.
     The surviving children are Viola, Mrs. William Robinson of Bedford, Frank Jared of Sacramento, Calif., John Jared of Ames, and Mabel, Mrs. E. J. Hartman of Charles City, Iowa.
     Aside from these he leaves one brother, Delbert Jared of Bedford and also grandchildren and great grandchildren.
     The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Wetmore Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. O. H. Hallgrimson. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.
 
 
Obituary - Mrs. R. B. Jared

     Emily Josephine Scrivner, daughter of Emsy and John Scrivner, was born April 19, 1862 in Lewiston, Illinois, and died at her home in north Bedford Monday, January 4, 1943, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 15 days.
     The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, January 7, conducted by Rev. O. H. Hallgrimson. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.
     When small she moved with her parents from Illinois to a farm near Siam, Iowa.
     On April 21, 1881 she was married to Robert Bruce Jared. To them were born six children, two of whom, Mrs. Elva Wolverton and Ora Jared, preceded her in death. Those surviving with the husband, are Mrs. Viola Robinson, John Jared and Mrs. Mabel Hartman of Bedford and Frank Jared of Prescott, Arizona. There are also many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
 
Obituary - Edward James Hartman

Cedar Falls-Service for Edward J. Hartman, 84, of 1709 Olive St., will be 2 p.m. Monday at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home, Bedford, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. He died Thursday at Satori Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 12, 1898, at Graniteville, MO., son of Peter and Catherine Kelly Hartman He married Mabel Jared Aug. 9, 1921, at Maryville, MO. He was the manager for many years at a number of A&P food stores.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dorris Benedict of Arlington, Texas, a brother Robert of Detroit; four sisters, Marie Haskell, Blanche Hartman, and Maxine Campau, all of Miami, and Margaurite Murphy of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
