In the fall, Dick attended Centerville Junior College in Centerville, Iowa for automotive training. He was asked to continue at the college to be an instructor, but he decided that farming was his passion so chose to return home to both fields as he farmed, along with working at Woldruff-Allison Ford Company in Hopkins, Missouri at this time. As time progressed, farming became his sole occupation. During this time he was blessed with his first daughter Beth Reneã.
June 11, 1978, he was united in marriage to Victoria Faith Killam in Bedford, Iowa. They made their home west of Gravity, Iowa until 1984 when they moved to a house directly west of Bedford. Many people in the area dealt with Dick to keep their vehicles running. Later he advanced to sales and finally acquired full ownership. During this time he continued farming full time with row crop and livestock. Upon the closing of Taylor County Motor the operations were moved to the farm west of Bedford and became D & T Repair. His son, Tim, joined him in this enterprise. He also did custom hay baling for many years for area farmers. The farming operation expanded to include his son, Tim, which made him very proud. Despite some health issues he worked hard until his death on September 12, 2015.
Dick enjoyed farming and working with livestock. At the shop he enjoyed visiting with those that came in for repairs or just to visit. Many will remember the time that he gave to the Taylor County Fair, especially the tractor pull and demolition derby. He also served as a volunteer on the Bedford Fire Department. Recently he obtained a bulldozer that he enjoyed using to clear trees and push dirt. He led a simple life style where his motto was “A little hard work never hurt anybody.”

Miller, Larry "David" - Services to remember and celebrate the life of Larry David “Dave” Miller will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Claremore. His pastor and dear friend, Dr. Ray Crawford will share words of comfort. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rice Funeral Service.
David will be laid to rest in his hometown of Lenox, Iowa. Graveside services will be held in the North Fairview Cemetery at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015. Family will receive friends 9:00 a.m., Saturday morning at Ritchie Funeral Home. (124 S. Main Street, Lenox, IA 50851)
Larry David Miller was born April 23, 1951 in Creston, Iowa to Donald Dean and Jean M. Miller. He was reared in Afton and Lenox and was a 1969 graduate of Lenox Community High School. Growing up as a “country boy,” Dave and his late brother, Randy, worked for just about all of the area farmers during their adolescence. They built fence, hauled hay and worked in and around livestock. In fact, they earned the reputation that if you had a task to be done, just call the Miller boys.
In addition to all of this work, Dave found the time to take classmate, Cindy Reynolds, to the senior prom. Following high school, Dave pursued an education at Southwestern Community College in Creston and later at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and received an Associate Degree in Computer Programming. All the while, he stayed in contact with Cindy and this courtship culminated in a November 30, 1974 Lenox wedding ceremony.
With his expertise in computer programming, David quickly found employment first for American Republic Insurance and later for American Airlines. This opportunity would require the young Miller family to relocate to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area – eventually making the community of Claremore their home.
Since 1979, Dave has either been employed by American Airlines or has worked under contract for the company. He has been instrumental in developing payroll software that accurately tracked time and attendance for all employees with American.
In addition to his commitment to work, Dave was committed to his family, his community and his church. Both he and Cindy shared a family focus, never missing daughter Angie’s special events and activities. Dave even enjoyed sharing his April birthday with her prom festivities. The Miller household was always the place to be for Angie and her friends.
Upon moving to Claremore, Dave and Cindy became involved in the Claremore Soccer Association where Dave served as president. He was also involved in coaching and refereeing the sport from time to time.
Certainly not to be overlooked was Dave’s devotion to his God and his church, the First United Methodist Church. Through the years, he and Cindy had taught Sunday school and gone on various mission trips. More recently, he was the first one there and the last one to leave, making sure the doors were unlocked and thermostats set and that everything was back in order before locking up. He was the church concierge if you will, and Pastor Ray’s right hand man, and that was certainly appreciated.
Though he gave so much to so many, he did find time for some of his favorite hobbies including woodworking. Many family and friends are beneficiaries of his great handiwork. Another great love of Dave’s was that of model trains. This began at the age of ten when he won his first set in a drawing. He was continuously working on train sets, buying and building and enjoyed sharing this experience with his grandchildren, Evan and Marissa.
This intelligent and innovative, selfless and giving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend to many and irreplaceable supporter leaves treasured friends and a legacy of family which include: his daughter, Angela Rivera and her husband, Adrian of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Evan and Marissa Rivera; sister, Jolene Garey of Broken Bow, Nebraska; brother, Dan Miller and his wife, Sandy of Walcott, Iowa; brother-in-law, David Reynolds and his wife, Denise of Durant, IA; sister-in-law, Jackie Miller of Mingo, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Cynthia Sue “Cindy” (Reynolds) Miller (June 1, 1998); his parents; his brother, Randy Miller; and his father and mother-in-law, George and Ruth (Wurster) Reynolds.
Dave answered the call and boarded that heavenly bound train Monday evening, October 26, 2015 in a Tulsa, Oklahoma hospital after a lengthy battle with health challenges. He was 64.
In lieu of flowers or other condolences the family requests donations be made to the Endowment Fund at First United Methodist Church at 1615 N. Highway 88, Claremore, OK 74017.

Miller, Larry E. Jun 4, 1951 - Aug 23, 2015 A Memorial celebration for Larry E. Miller will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 29 at Larry's farm 1 mile north of New Market. Visitation and evening meal will follow.
A memorial fund is being established.
Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel provided arrangements.
Larry Edgar Miller was born June 4, 1951 to Edgar Lawson Miller and Audrey Oxley Miller. He attended Olive Branch country school and then went to South Page, where he graduated high school in 1969. He was a member of 4H and FFA and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, running track, and of course, riding horses and ponies. After high school he attended college at IWCC in Clarinda before moving to Washington D.C. where he attended college and worked for the FBI pursuing a career in criminal justice.
While lifeguarding part-time at a swimming pool near DC, he met his wife-to-be, Deborah Ann Overmiller. They were married on October 27, 1973 and settled down in southwest Iowa between Siam and Hopkins. Larry and Debi moved to Dallas for a short time until his father passed which led him back to Iowa to help his mom run Miller Oil, the business he eventually bought and ran until 2012 when he retired. Larry and Debi raised two children, Brandy Danielle Miller and Josey Lawson Miller.
Larry started learning to rope in 1973 while working at the Kopete and Honey Creek Ranches east of Bedford. He often told stories from that chapter of his life, as it held many of his fondest memories. He was a member of numerous rodeo organizations including the PRCA, IRCA, URA, IRA, IPRA, and NARC competed in roping events from 1974 to 2004. He was also a member of the New Market Saddle Club and New Market Rodeo Committee. His rodeo habit awarded him many memories and an uncountable number of great friends.
After he hung up his rope and spurs, Larry enjoyed traveling to see friends and family. His trips usually led him to Arkansas or Texas. This made it easy for him to stop in KC to spend an evening or two with Brandy.
Larry cherished being "Poppy" to his three grandchildren; Marshal, Brodie, and Timber. He thoroughly enjoyed watching them practice their rodeo events from the golf cart and listening to how well they did when they returned from their rodeos. He loved to ride and watch well trained horses and never spent much time without a good dog. He spent countless hours outside in his barn laying in the hammock or sitting by the fire watching young horses learning in the arena and listening to music. Outside of roping, many of his favorite occasions involved a bonfire or wood stove and a couple of guitar-picking friends.
After Debi’s death in 2010, he spent the last few years with his long-time friend, Mary Hildebrandt.
Larry passed away on Aug. 23. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawson, and his wife Debi. He is survived by his mother Audrey; brother Steve Miller of Clarinda; sister Kathy and her husband John Porter of Greenfield; daughter Brandy of Olathe, Kansas; and son Josey and his wife Stephanie of New Market; grandchildren Marshal, Brodie, and Timber; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Warren earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Sioux Falls, served in the Red Bull Division of the Iowa National Guard and began preaching in small churches. He taught 6th grade for four years in Kansas City while completing his studies in "Town and Country Ministries" at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. He was ordained to the work of the gospel ministry in May 1973 at the First Baptist Church of Bedford, Iowa by the American Baptist Churches of the USA.
Warren married Ida May Halliburton Poer on December 23, 1970 in Overland Park. Together they served American Baptist Churches in the Iowa towns of Lamont, Aurora, and Denison and in the Kansas towns of Norton, Pratt, Lebo and Waverly.
Warren for 14 years was Chaplain for the Lebo American Legion Post #323. He held membership in Fishermen's Club, the Minister's Council and was Pastor Emeritus at the First Baptist Church of Waverly, KS where he served as a deacon.
He was known for handing out Tootsie Rolls to children after church services if they would shake his hand. Tootsie Roll Industries of Chicago honored Warren in 1996 by naming him an "Ambassador of Goodwill".
Warren was always interested in the work of the gospel, church hymns, cars, movies, television, travel, biographies, and history. After retiring he enjoyed relaxing around the home with occasional travels. Grandkids enjoyed hearing stories told by Grandpa about his childhood, sitting with him to read a book or watch Tom and Jerry cartoons, and Grandpa's sneaking them treats from his store-bought goodie stash.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Ida; Brother Roland Wilson of Creston, IA; Sister Myrna Wilson of Bedford, IA; Son Steve Wilson and wife Kandy of Owatonna, MN; Daughter Lisa Wilson-Raw, husband Ron of Lawson, MO and children Josh and Ashley and her family. Son David Wilson and children Logan and Meredith of Lawrence, KS; Son Dr. Daniel Wilson and Jenny, and their children Alec, James, and Axel of Linkoping, Sweden; and Daughter Celina Gillespie, husband David and children Madison, Jaxson, and Olivia of Newton, KS
Warren was a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather and friend to many. He was a man of integrity, a provider, and touched many souls. He will be greatly and dearly missed.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 1 in the First Baptist Church of Waverly, KS followed by a lunch at the Waverly Community Center. Burial was at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Cemetery, Lebo, KS. Memorial gifts can be sent to VanArsdale Funeral Home.
