Bedford Free Press (Bedford, Iowa) Aug 2, 1906 - John Baxter, of Denver, Colo., was in Bedford Tuesday visiting at the homes of J.H. Humphrey and A.C. Brice, old friends of his. Twenty years ago, Mr. Baxter left Iowa for the west, and this has been his first visit here in that time. He has been visiting friends in Lenox, Creston, Cromwell, Tingley and other points in this vicinity, and will probably go to Des Moines before returning home. He is associated with his son in the printing business in Denver and both are prospering. Mr Baxter has recently obtained a patent on a short-hand method of music.

Bedford Times Press (Bedford, Iowa) Nov 14, 1907 - A telegram was received by Will Baxter Tuesday from his brother at Denver, Colo., stating that Jonah had passed away. He was stricken to his bed only a few days ago which later developed into quick pneumonia. His body was shipped to Armel, Colo., and intered in the old soldier's cemetery. He left Lenox about two months ago for the west to take up a claim, but after a short stay in Wyoming he concluded to go to Colorado. He was an old soldier and a member of the G.A.R. post of this city and was a favorite among his comrades who deeply deplore his death. Lenox Times (Lenox, Iowa)

Taylor County Republican (Bedford, Iowa) Sept 30, 1880 - The Mt Ayr Onward (Mt Ayr, Iowa) says: H.G. Baxter, formerly of Lenox, Taylor county, but recently of New Redding, this county, died Sept 14th, aged thirty-four years. Deceased was a member of Mt. Etna Lodge of Masons, Taylor county, was buried at Morgan Cemetery, eight miles distant from Lenox, the Lodge at the latter place officiating. (New Redding refers to Redding in Ringgold co, Iowa)
