Christian Palmer Camery

Obit of Christian Palmer Camery: Wednesday morning, January 9,

(1910) C. P. Camery, an old and respected citizen of Traer, died at his home in that town.

Tuesday evening he had attended the band concert and was ill on returning home. A physician was called but failed to give relief and aged pioneer passed quietly away. Death was the result of a weak heart. The deceased was the fourth child in a family of twelve. He was born in Virginia in 1829, moving with his parents to Ohio, coming westward to Illinois and finally settling in Tama county, Iowa in 1865.

Four of his father's family survive him. The eldest is J. M. Camery of Toledo, two sisters and a brother Isaac of Illinois. Of his children, 8 are living. They are Robert, Mrs Addie Brown, Mrs Will Fleming, Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell, Cora, Mort, Logan and William. All were present at the funeral Friday. C. P. Camery was a concientious christian, a firm adherent of the M. E. Church. He was chosen a trustee of the first M. E. church organized at Traer, and when his hearing failed so he could not fulfill the duties, he was elected an honorary trustee which he remained till his death. At the funeral conducted by Rev, Soper of the M. E. church at Traer, the same text was used and the same hymns were sung as were used at the funeral of his wife who died in October 1893. Interment was in Buckingham cemetery.
