About this Review

IAGenWeb county sites are required to meet or exceed all specific USGenWeb and IAGenWeb rules and bylaws at all times. Reviews are designed as an aid in helping CCs meet these requirements and will be completed by an IAGenWeb volunteer using this form. CCs and reviewers may email Lynn Diemer-Mathews , IAGenWeb ASC, with questions before or during the review. The forms are sent to the reviewer, ASC, SC and tech support (for archiving). The SC will read the reviews, provide a final determination of pass or fail, make comments, and e-mail results to the coordinators.

All coordinators and co-coordinators are required to respond to the review results within one week. For those who pass the review, that is the end of the process.

Coordinators who fail the review must correct deficiencies within two weeks unless the SC agrees to an extension. The Leadership Team will work with the CC to develop an improvement plan.

Coordinators wishing to discuss their review may do so by contacting Linda Ziemann , IAGenWeb State Coordinator.

The leadership team will work with the coordinator to provide a full list of needed repairs to help get all linked fixed. Also

  • Be alert for spelling errors, grammatical errors and typos. These can have a negative effect on our credibility and often such errors are simple oversights that the coordinator will thank you for pointing out.
  • You are a second pair of eyes helping to support the coordinator. Look for things the coordinator may have missed. These can be useful suggestions in your report.

12 & 13.  New complete record-sets (previously known as Transcribed data) or incomplete record-sets (previously known as Random data) are to be added to a project no less than once every six (6) months, with at least one complete record-set added yearly. Both record sets may be complete record-sets, but both may not be incomplete record-sets.
Reference Rule #14

A complete record-set covers a defined period of time or is complete for a given scope of data. An incomplete record-set is a substantial number of unorganized, but related, records. Incomplete records always have the potential of becoming a complete record-set. Record sources, contributors' names and the date when the material was added is strongly recommended.

Examples of "Complete" and "Incomplete" record-sets:

Compete record-set
(formerly called transcribed records)

  • A bride index for all marriages within a span of years
  • A census transcript covering a complete unit of data such as a township
  • All biographies from a history book
  • Complete gravestone inscriptions for a cemetery

Incomplete record-set
(formerly called random records)
(unorganized, but related, records)

  • A substantial set of various county biographies
  • A substantial set of transcribed county news articles
  • A partial list of gravestone inscriptions for a cemetery
12.  Complete Record-Set: Using the What's New page or 'new' dated items listed on the main page, list examples of complete data that has been added within the last 6 months. If none, please list data added in the last 12 months. Be sure to verify that it is actual on-site data and not external links. (Please see above definition of on-site content). Please also include the date it was added.

13.  Incomplete Record-Set: Using the What's New page or 'new' dated items listed on the main project page, list examples of incomplete data that has been added within the last 6 months. If none, please list data added in the last 12 months. Be sure to verify that it is actual on-site data and not external links. (Please see above definition of on-site content). Please also include the date it was added.

Section III. Appearance & Comments

1.  Is the website well-designed? Does it fit the screen, when possible? Is the type readable? Is it structured for easy navigation for visitors? Describe what you liked about the site design.

2.  Reviewer’s comments (required). Include positive comments about the site that you have not already mentioned which should include those elements of the site that you feel make it excel. If the site did not pass the review, provide a simple and concise summary of the reason(s).
