*****VAN MAANEN, JOHN B. AND ELIZABETH (ROZEBOOM) Marriage of John B. Van Maanen and Eliza- Elizabeth (Mrs. John B. Van Maanen) and her Both John and Elizabeth grew up and went to school in Sioux Center. They were members of the First Reformed Church. John was a charter member of the Men' s Fellowship. Elizabeth is a member of the Eunice Circle. John B. and Elizabeth (Rozeboom) Van John was a farmer but due to an accident had to quit farming and moved to town in 1951. They bought the home that had belonged to John's parents built in 1920 it is located at 104 - lst Ave. NE., Sioux Center. He worked at the Bowling Alley and had a shoe repair business in the later years. Elizabeth taught rural school for many years and later worked at Van's Jewelry. John and Elizabeth loved to fish, bowl and flower garden. Elizabeth stil lives in her home that they moved into in 1951. John Van Maanen died October 17, 1966. John and Elizabeth ware the parents of three children. The first child, a baby girl born October 14, 1927 died in infancy. Delbert Van Maanen was born July 9, 1931. On May 29 1958 he married Darlene Ulferts. Delbert is a teacher in Ottumwa Junior College but lives in Oskaloosa, IA. They are the parents of two children: Brenda Lee (Mrs. Eric Svendsen) and Charlene Idelle Van Maanen; Joan Ellen Van Maanen was born September 11; 1932. On June 14, 1954 she married Merle A. Van Roekel. They are farmers and she was a school teacher. They live in Rock Rapids, IA.
