Rock Valley as one says, has 1500 inhabitants. Six churches are represented here: Methodist; United Presbyterian, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Reformed, and Dutch Christian Reformed. The latter does not have a church building yet. We have a public school with 5 teachers. There is a Catholic school here too, in which two sister are teachers. Further, two banks, A mill, that makes a hundred barrels of flour a day A Bakery Four elevators; Two machine shops Three hotels Two ice-houses A creamery Several large stores, among which are a Flemish one and a Dutch one. Five physicians Three drugists An abundance of good water for the sick and healthy. The Reformed congregation was organized in 1891. Shortly afterwards the Rev. J. Huizenga from Holland , Nebraska , was called and he accepted and arrived there with his people Nov. 10, 1892 . The congregation then consisted of 27 menbers, of whom there are still 15 alive. Upon confession of faith 27 members have been accepted since then. Present number: 72 members, 80 Sunday school students, 10 teachers, a women's mission guild has been founded that meets once a week. The president is Mrs. Huizenga. Our sing society has between 30 and 40 members. Our church and parsonage are useful buildings and are an ornament for the town.
