The first systematic recorded observations of Shelby county weather were made at the town of Panama. These records show only the precipitation and are as follows:

The records below given cover a period antedating the Harlan records; they were made in Logan, Harrison county, by a well-known pioneer of that county, Jacob T. Stern, assisted by his wife, M. B. Stern. These records are probably about what Shelby county records would show had such records been kept.
