Mcintosh Family Bible
Robert Anglin has very generously shared images from John A. McIntosh's 1839 Bible with IAGenWeb. The John A. McIntosh Bible has been donated to the Shelby County Historical Museum at Harlan, where the historic McIntosh log cabin is also located. Robert indicates the McIntosh Bible was passed on to "the brother of his second wife or Thomas A (Adams?) McIntosh. When the wife of Thomas died it went to her family then got passed around. Now it is at home with John. As you know there is a Galland's Grove. Back near Montrose there is a Galland Cemetery. The family of the wife of Thomas is in that Cemetery. So it seems the same Galland family went from Montrose to Shelby. But I will check on that. Possibly just a branch."
Robert recently contributed additional information and corrections to the biography of John McIntosh that was published in the 1889 Biographical History of Shelby & Audubon Counties. Robert indicates that John was 82-3 when the biography was given, which may account for some of the error it contains. John's younger brother Solomon McIntosh passed on an oral history that also contained many errors.
