E. GISH


E. Gish, proprietor of the Central House, formerly known as the Swain House; was born in Va. in 1837; moved with parents to Green county, 0., in 1847; thence, in 1856, to Jasper county, Ia., and engaged in farming, until 1864; then moved to Shelby county, bought two hundred acres of well improved land in Harlan township, and there engaged in farming until Apr., 1881, when he moved to Harlan and engaged in the hotel busmess. He has been engaged in this business before, and keeps a first-class house. He was married in 1867, at Bowman's Grove, Ia., to Marrietta Poling, and has two children.
