MERRILLS BARTON
Merrills Barton, farmer, was born in Genesee county, N. Y., in 1823, and at four years of age moved with parents to Chautauqua county. In 1852 he moved to Waupaca county. Wis., where he engaged in farming until 1870, when he moved to Mitchell county, Ia., and the following year came to Shelby county, locating two miles east of Harlan. He owns a farm of 131 acres, where he resides, and another of 600 acres in Douglas township. They are both well improved stock farms. He was elected a member of the
Board of Supervisors.
