2005 Tingley alumni banquet
The Tingley high school alumni banquet was held Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Tingley community building with 128 attending
and enjoying a delicious buffet provided by the Tingley UMW. Grab Your Straw Hats and Head to Tingley was the theme the
nine GROUT children used in memory of their father, Ray GROUT'S Threshing Business. The tables were decoreated with threshing
scene place mats and programs provided by Been Printing; also hat nut cups made by Ruth GROUT HOY and wooden tracotrs
and threshing machines made by Dale GROUT that were given out as door prizes. Sue RICHARDS decorated with straw hats
and daisies in the windows and around the large sign reading "Welcome THS Alumni." Donald GROUT gave the invocation
and Marvin GROUT gave the welcome and conducted the business meeting. Sue RICHARDS read the 2004 minutes and Karen
WEEDA PETTINGER gave the treasuer's report. A Tribute to Merle (MC) BEEN was giving by the 1951 class mate, Charles
GROUT. The DUKES family (Donald and Rita) will host the alumni banquet May 27, 2006. The Class of 1945 will host in 2007.
A letter from Doris ROBINSON NEALIS was read by Cleone OVERHOLTZER HOSFIELD. Jon HOY, dressed as a farmer (as were
many of the 24 GROUTS present), entertained the group telling jokes and playing a medley of tunes on his saxophone.
The roll call of classes was given by Ruth GROUT HOY. Those graduates in attendance marking special anniversary years
were:
60 years - Cleone OVERHOLTZER HOSFIELD, Marvin KESTER, Peggy MOHR SKARDA and Roger MORRISON;
55 years - Jack ENGLAND and George PETERS;
50 years - Wendall CRAFT, LeRy GILES, Kenneth GROUT, Jenese OVERHOLTZER TULL, Ronald TULL and Elizabeth JOBE
WELCH;
45 years - Jerry JOBE and Janet RICHARDS MAYER;
30 years - Alan IBBOTSON and Karen WEEDA PETTINGER. Clair HEYER (Honorary Alumni) gave an update on his book,
