The Shannon City Alumni will hold their annual reunion Saturday evening at the high school facility in Afton and among the people attending will be some from the Shannon City High School class of 1907. That's 70 years ago! Among those attending will be Grace Henry Delzel of Cedar Rapids, Jessie Griep Wolfe of Creston and Ralph Hollibaugh of Creston. The other surviving members of the class, Florence Duncan Henry of Costa Mesa, CA, will not attend the reunion.

The first school house was built at Shannon City in 1890, the first class graduated in 1895. During the years from 1895 until 1961 when Shannon City joined the East Union School District there was a total of 478 graduated from Shannon City High School.
