MALOY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL INDEX Maloy, Iowa
In either 1916 or 1917, the citizens of Maloy voted to consolidate. With the exception of Lone Star School and Highland School, the area rural schools were included with the Maloy Public School to
become Maloy Consolidated School District. The two-story brick schoolhouse was constructed in 1917 which included what was at the time thought to be an excellent gynasium. The new school building was dedicated in December of 1917 and classes filled the building in February of 1918.
In 1952, high school students attended classes at either Redding or Mount Ayr. Elementary classes attended at the Maloy Schoolhouse. In 1958, the district became a part of the Mount Ayr School District. The school house continued as an elementary attendance center through the 1971-71 school year. In 1973, the building was sold to Ringgold County Farms, Inc. who owned the surrounding land. The school building was demolished in the spring of 1987.
