50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY IS OBSERVED
Carrie Alice (STEVENS) and Albert Marion JONES
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. JONES observed the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding at their home in Diagonal, Sunday, July 1st,
1945. Mr. and Mrs. JONES, members of their immediate family and other relatives enjoyed a family dinner together at noon
and from 2:30 until 5:00 PM they held open house, welcoming sixty-nine callers, who were received at the door by two of
the JONES' daughters, Mrs. Alma PINE of Lincoln and Mrs. Boyd ETHINGTON of Kellerton. After signing the guest book , the
callers were served ice cream with strawberry topping and cookies by Betty Jean WILLIAMS of Omaha, Patricia ETHINGTON of
Kellerton and Peggy Jean MAHONEY.
Carrie [Alice] STEVENS and Albert JONES were married July 3, 1895 in Diagonal, Iowa, by the Rev. A. E. BYRUM, pastor of
the Presbyterian church. They were attended by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. STEVENS. Mr. and Mrs. JONES are long time
residents of Ringgold county, having spent their entire fifty years of married life in the county, engaging in farming
for twenty-three years after which they moved to their present home in Diagonal. Mr. and Mrs. JONES have six children,
Lois (Mrs. John LEMLEY) of Cheyenne, Wyoming., O. Z. of Kellerton, Homer of McPherson, Kansas. Mrs. Alma PINE of Lincoln,
NB., Wade of Ute, and Annabelle (Mrs. Boyd ETHINGTON) of Kellerton. All were present Sunday with the exception of Mrs.
LEMLEY. Mr. and Mrs. JONES are the first in either the STEVENS or JONES families who have been privileged to celebrate
their golden wedding anniversary.
