Bishop honored for 27 years on promotion board
A Mount Ayr area resident has been honored for his service on the board of Beef Promotions of Iowa, the group that runs
the Beef Quarters restaurant at the Iowa State Fair each year. Randy BISHOP of Mount Ayr was part of the board when it
was first founded 27 years ago and has served on the board since then. He is stepping down this year with Trent
JOHNSTON taking his spot as Ringgold county representative for the group. Back when the Beef Quarters was started as
a way to promote Iowa beef to fairgoers, a tent with a wood chip floor was used. The project has grown into a building
with concrete floors used each year by the group. Not being a member of the board won't mean that BISHOP won't be seen
working at the Beef Quarters during the fair. "I'll still be up there working, but I won't be going to the board
meetings or helping with the set up and tear down processes for the project each year," BISHOP said.
