JOSEPH A. MLINARS CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A Mlinar, both of whom have been residents of this community 64 years, and were married by the Rev. E.
A. KLEMONS at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson [NE] on February 8, 1898, celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary Sunday with a family dinner at Memorial hall and open house to their friends at their home in this city.
An unusual feature of the celebration was the presence at the celebration of all six members of the original wedding
party.
The bride, Miss Libbie KUBART, was attended by her sister, Miss Victoria KUBART (now Mrs. Frank LeMUNYAN) and Mr. MLINAR'S
niece, Miss Effie PACHA (now Mrs. Theo KUBART).
The bridegroom's attendants were his brother, John MLINAR and the bride's brother, Theodore KUBART. All of them are still
residents of this community.
About fifty relatives and close friends were guests at the golden wedding dinner Sunday noon at Memorial Hall. They were
seated at five tables which were decorated with white candles and yellow roses. The nut cups had gold bell handles,
placecards were gold and white, and the favors were gold colored booklets of the family tree.
At the bride's table a three-tier wedding cake was the centerpiece. Each of the other tables also had a cake for a
centerpiece.
Mrs. MLINAR and her attendants, Mrs. KUBART and Mrs. LeMUNYAN, wore corsages of yellow roses. The men in the wedding party
wore yellow rose boutonnieres. The tables were served by the honored couple's grandchildren.
From 2 to 5 pm at their home Mr. and Mrs. MLINAR held open house and received congratulations and best wishes from a great
many friends and old neighbors. They also received many nice gifts in the honor of the occasion. Ice cream, cake and
coffee were served. Mrs. MLINAR was born in Chicago and came to Atkinson with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph KUBART 64
years ago. Born in Iowa, Mr. MLINAR came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank MLINAR, also 64 years ago.
After their marriage, they settled on a homestead twenty miles southwest near the former Geo. COLLINS ranch. They moved
to a farm 4 and 1/2 miles southwest of Atkinson 46 years ago. They moved to town 3 years ago, and their son Edward lives
on the farm now.
They have six children, all of whom were here with their families for the golden wedding event. They are Charlie, Mrs.
George BECK (Helen), and Edward, all of Atkinson; Mrs. Clarence JOHNSON (Mildred) and Mrs. Dwaine LOCKMON (Hazel) both of
Stuart; Mrs. Merlin QUIGLEY (Eva) of Bellevue, One daughter, Tillie, died when she was 9-months-old.
The grandchildren are Mrs. Quentin MLINAR SMITH of Amelia, Dale MLINAR and Duane BECK of Atkinson, Larry QUIGLEY of
Bellevue, Marvel Jean JOHNSON, Glenn and Garry LOCKMON, all of Stuart.
Mrs. MLINAR'S brothers and sisters are Theodore KUBART, James KUBART, Mrs. Mary PACHA, and Mrs. Frank LeMUNYAN, all of
Atkinson. They were present at the celebration.
