Dr. B. R. PATEL is announcing that he will no longer be in the practice of medicine in Mount Ayr as of Oct. 1. Dr.
PATEL and Dr. Hema PATEL have been in practice at Patel Medical Clinic and on staff at the Ringgold County Hospital
for the past 10 years. Dr. B. R. PATEL is a general surgeon and urologist. Dr. Hema PATEL, who until recent years,
had been engaged in obstetrics, will remain in Mount Ayr in the practice at 207 North Taylor Street, Mount Ayr. Dr.
B. R. PATEL has not made known his plans for the future.
When Ringgold county voters go to the polls to elect school board members Tuesday, Sept. 12, they will find only one
contest on the ballot. The contest comes in director district #3 of the Grand Valley Community school district, where
Brad STILL will be running against incumbent Monte AKERS.
The benefit for Kay ALLEN of Tingley, who is awaiting a lung transplant, was a huge success, according to those working
with the project. It was held in Tingley Sunday afternoon, Aug. 27. There were 125 donors from Ringgold and surrounding
counties. Many, many baked items were donated for the auction and other items were contributed by businesses, individuals
and organizations. More than 300 were served at the pork barbecue.
Some $2.500 was raised for the building fund to restore the United Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr with the Old Fashioned
Saturday Night held at the church Saturday.
Two Ringgold county farm families were honored as families who have owned Iowa farm land for 100 years or more at the 1995
Century Farms recognition program at the Iowa State Fair. The families of Marion and Naomi CREVELING and Robert BAILEY were the
two families honored this year.
Bruce HENDERSON, a graduate of Mount Ayr Community high school, has been named the Omaha World Herald's Southwest Iowa
Coach of the Year for 1995. The designation came in this Sunday, August 20, edition of the newspaper. The honor has been given
29 times and goes to a coach in any sport. HENDERSON, the son of Marion HENDERSON and the late Milt HENDERSON of Mount
Ayr, began the girls track program at Atlantic High School in 1974 and has handled the program ever since. He has coached
the girls and boys cross country prgrams since 1983. He coached Jenny RUNCHEY of Atlantic, who was named Southwest
Iowa girl athlete of the year in the same issue.
