Mount Ayr had a $100,000 lottery winner this week for the first time since the state lottery has been held. Roberta
CAMPBELL of Mount Ayr won $100,000 in the Power Ball Lottery when she matched five numbers.
Mount Ayr Community high school senior, Elisa JONES, was named a speech contest all-stater for the third year in a
row following the state individual speech contest at Hoover high school in Des Moines recently.
A Benton couple have been honored as the 100,000th customer nationwide for TCI's mini-satellite service, Primestar. Bob and
Karla LARSON of Benton, recently ordered the service and received a plaque and several gifts from Primestar programmers.
TCI of Central Iowa presented the awards to the family. The LARSONS moved back to Benton two years ago after
living in Omaha, NE for seven years.
Chip BRUNDAGE, a Mount Ayr Community high school basketball player, received honorable mention on the Iowa Newspaper
Association's Class 2A all-state teams. BRUNDAGE averaged 20 points per game and 15 rebounds per game for the Raiders
in the season just completed.
