Charles William (Bill) PRITCHARD has been engaged as junior high mathematics teacher in the Mount Ayr Community school district. He will also serve as junior high boys athletics coach.

Double honors were awarded the Earl KELLY family of Redding during the state convention of the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association held in Cedar Rapids. Mrs. KELLY, who had served three years as fourth District Auxiliary secretary, was elected to the position of vice-president, and her daughter, Cynthia, was elected secretary of the Junior Auxiliary. Those from Ringgold county who attended were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. OVERHOLTZER of Tingley, the latter of whom served during the past year as fourth district president of the Auxiliary, and Mr. and Mrs. KELLY, Cynthia and Tommy.

Lloyd G. GOINS of Diagonal, prominent farmer, civic leader and member of the Ringgold County Board of Education, was elected commander of the Iowa Veterans of Foreign Wars during the closing session of the state convention of the service organization in Mason City. Mr. GOINS, a member and past commander of the Creston V.F.W. Post, served during the past year as department senior vice commander.

Six of the surviving members of the graduation class of 1911 of the Mount Ayr high school enjoyed their 50th reunion Saturday in Mount Ayr. Present for the observance were Burrus BEARD of Aurora, IL; Dr. Fay NORRIS of Houston, TX; Earl FENDER of Glenwood Springs, CO; Lova THOMPSON of Des Moines; Elsie HOLLOWAY MOFFATT of Daytona Beach, FL; Clifford HANKS of Kewanee, IL and Frank F. WILSON of this city. Three other members of the class, the Rev. Rex LAWHEAD of Canoga Park, CA, Lester WRIGHT of Des Moines and Carroll SPURRIER of Woodlake, CA sent greetings and expressed their regrets at not being able to attend the reunion. Deceased members of the class of 12 are Edna LAIRD, Lena OGDEN and Zoe SPURRIER.

  • June 26, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Max HAIDSIAK, Bedford

  • June 27, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Emmett MURRAY, Diagonal
