A grain bin and several outbuildings were destroyed and a home damaged when a tornado touched down in Ringgold
county Sunday evening as a storm system moved through the area. The damage was reported at the farm of Jim and
Patty POLLOCK, six and one-fourth miles north of Mount Ayr. If there is a tornado alley in Ringgold county,
the POLLOCKS feel they are in it. This is the ninth time since 1951 that their property as been touched by one
of the powerful storms.
Two Mount Ayr Community high school speech students were named all-state following the state speech contest in
Des Moines March 15-16. Joe HYNEK was named all-state in storytelling and Kelly GRIFFITH was named all-state
in acting. They have been invited to appear at the all-state speech festival in Cedar Falls Monday, April 1.
