The first Bishop Maurice Dingman Peace Award was presented to a former Ringgold county resident, Helen SULLIVAN
TICHY, 84, now of Des Moines. The award honors the memory of Dingman, bishop of the Des Moines Diocese for 18
years, who retired in 1987 after a severe stroke. He died Feb. 1, 1992.
The Ringgold county Board of Supervisors appointed Max ANDERSON of Mount Ayr to a two-year term as a representative of
Ringgold county cities on the ATURA policy board. His term began Jan. 1, 1996. ANDERSON serves as the Mount Ayr mayor.
The Kellerton Cafe hosted an anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Bud) HIGHTSHOE'S 66th wedding anniversary.
A mock wedding ceremony was held February 22 at the community center in Kellerton. Acting minister, Jim OVERHOLTZER,
performed the ceremony with John WORTHINGTON giving the bride away. Rollie CANNON was ring bearer and Marion STARK
objected to the wedding of his once-girlfriend, Wilma.
A Kellerton fisherman has been invited to receive the 1995 trophy fish print award at the Eastern Iowa Sports, Boat,
R.V. and Vacation Show at Cedar Falls March 9-10. The award is in recognition of a trophy fish caught in Iowa waters
and registered with the Department of Natural Resources during 1994. The award is availble to Rick D. SCHUSTER of
Kellerton. SCHUSTER is one of 600 Iowans to be honored at the show at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
