New welcome signs developed and funded by the Ladies Unlimited group greet travelers on Highway 2. The signs were
dedicated at the Ayr Days celebration and put up last week.
Candidates for king and queen for the Mount Ayr Community high school homecoming are: Scott ENGLAND, Kevin
STEWART, Brian COOK, Richie LONETTI, Dan DREDGE and Colby HOLMES, King: and, Jody SHIELDS, Jill TAYLOR,
Mary LONGFELLOW, Nicole LANDPHAIR, Jenny SHIELDS and Traci LARSON, Queen.
Chris PADGITT finished first place at the Eddyville Dragway Saturday, September 23 in National Hot Rod
Association Super Pro competition in this top class of the meet. The car ran the eighth mile course consistencly
on a 6.31 second dial-in with a clocking of 6.32 seconds to win the competition.
Gene BULLOCK of Ellston has been named the local winner of the 13th Annual Kentucky Fired Chicken Amateur Song
Writing Contest.
Lynn's Texaco Food Mart on Highway 2 in Mount Ayr will be opening Friday, September 29.
The Diagonal baseball team had two wins this week. Allen ALLEE pitched in both games and ALLEE and
Terry ANDERSON had home runs in the games.
Mount Ayr Raiderette volleyball players had another match victory this week. Raiderette ervers were Monica GREGG,
Nicky CROSS and Dana CAMPBELL. Dawn HUFF pounded 20 of the 24 spike attempts.
