Wilbur FARIS of Liberty township was elected chairman of the board of directors of the Creston 4-H spring market swine
show during the annual meeting. FARIS succeeds Guy HENDERSON of Lenox who had served in that capacity for the past two

Winter made its debut early Friday morning with a light and innocent looking December snowstorm. The snow, unexpected in
the state, and whipped by northerly winds, gained momentum throughout the morning and by afternoon a blizzard was raging
in all parts of the state with the exception of northeast Iowa. By one o'clock Saturday morning, when the snow had
stopped, 12 inches of new snow had been added to the 10 inches already on the ground, which brought the total snowfall
for December to 22 inches.
Mount Ayr has been chosen as one of 64 sites for the 1962 girls sectional basketball tournaments, announcement of which
has been made by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
