Thirteen winners of major awards at the 4-H awards day were Clint WHITTINGTON, Ashley ADAMS, Melonie MOBLEY, Amanda WERNER, Michael FARIS, Ann WALKUP,
Tara RICHARDSON, Amy SCHLAPIA, Jamie HAIDSIAK, Karie SHIFLETT, Rachel DERSCHEID, Michael BAKER and Derick WILEY.
A ribbon cutting was held to welcome Midwest Fur to Mount Ayr by Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce members Friday. Bruce and Barb HUTTON of Mount Ayr
own the fur business. Another ribbon cutting ceremony was held for Timberline Hunting Equipment, a hunting supply store which has opened in Mount Ayr.
For the second year in a row, a Mount Ayr pharmacy has been listed as one of 36 drug stores in the nation cited for overcoming compeition from big
chain stores. Mitchell Drug Store of Mount Ayr was cited for its ability to overcome competition in "Drug Topics," a trade publication, as a "Top
Independent Super Star for 1997." The store is owned by pharmacist Steve MITCHELL.
Capping a period of discussion and public input over several meetings, the Diagonal Community school board voted to share superintendent Dan HARGRAVE
with the Clearfield school district for the remainder of the 1997-98 school year.
