The daughter of a Grand River couple has been names president of Educaid, a First Union Company, which provides
customer service to more than 500,000 college students and their families throughout the United States. Doris GROSE
of Fair Oaks, CA, daughter of Dave and Ellen PETERSON of Grand River, is a 1966 graduate of Grand Valley high school
in Kellerton.
Nighbors gathered to help Marlin and Minnie RICKER of Diagonal with the harvesting this year. With four combines and
many trucks the harvest was over quickly.
Three Mount Ayr Community students have recenlty received honors dealing with the All-State Music Festival to be held
in Ames in November. At the selections held in Atlantic Saturday, Clara TERRELL was named to the all-state band playing
the oboe. Landi McFARLAND was selected a first alternate on the tenor saxophone, meaning she has the possibility
of participating if one of the players chosen ahead of her could not participate. Also trying out for the all-state
chorus were four vocal students -- Ashley INGRAM, Vanessa STORHOFF, Kelsey ALLEN and Drew INGRAM. They did not make the
selection. Ashley INGRAM, however, has been selected to sing with the all-state OPUS choir of middle school students,
which performs in Ames the same weekend.
