The burned out shell of a tractor and twisted pieces of steel siding were all that were left after a fire destroyed a
metal barn on the Lyle FARIS farm seven and one-half miles south of Mount Ayr on October 21.
The Women of the Mount Ayr Christian Church's Christian Women's Fellowship celebrated the 40th anniversary of the
christian Women's Fellowship in the morning worship service Sunday, October 22. There were 44 women who participated
in the service.
Nicole DENNEY of Mount Ayr Community school district, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry DENNEY, and Rick VANDERFLUGHT of
Grand Valley school district, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry VANDERFLUGHT, were selected to participate in the FFA band
for the group's national convention in Kansas City, MO. Band members are nominated by their state associations and final
selection is made from more than 400 applicants. The young musicians will entertain more than 23,000 FFA members and guests
during the convention sessions.
