Tuesday, December 7, has been designated as "Vera DICKENS Day" in Ringgold county. Vera DICKENS was county superintendent of schools for nearly 33 years.
Bonnie GARNER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion GARNER of Redding, is one of six students who received at $350 scholarship offered by the Iowa Society for Crippled Children to students who are interested in the broad field of rehabilitation.
Ministers and representatives of seven congregations in the area met on Thursday at 9 a.m. The Rev. Thomas D. HERSEY, president, opened the meeting with a scripture, meditations and prayer. The mental health committee reported that a meeting has been scheduled, during which members and interested persons will endeavor to establish a therapy program for the nursing homes.
