Ron BONNETT, Taylor county attorney, and Tim KENYON, Union county attorney, have been taking care of the court docket in Ringgold county since the death on January 15, of Ringgold County Attorney Arlen HUGHES. Carol CLARK, Decatur county attorney, and Gary KIMES, Clarke county attorney, also have offered to help take care of routine business, Ringgold supervisors say. Options for the future include the supervisors hiring someone to carry out the duties for 90 days and candidates' names being put on the ballott to be elected at a subsequent election. The supervisors hpe to have a name to be placed on the ballot in the near future.

Colleen WERNER PETERSON of Phoenix, AZ, a former 1977 graduate of Mount Ayr Community school, has been named employee of the year for the nation by American Remodeling, Inc.. American Remodeling is a New York Stock Exchange company and the largest supplier of installed home improvements products in the world. Colleen joined AMER in 1987 and was named employee of the year in 1990 as well. The 1990 award included a Carribean cruise, while the 1995 award includes five days in Cancun, Mexico.

Billie GOODALE was crowned queen and Travis ANDERSON was crowned king at Diagonal Community high school homecoming activities Saturday night.
