Francis Ervin HACKER, 24 years of age, of Diagonal, died Saturday afternoon from carbon monoxide poisoning while sitting
in the cab of a gasoline truck on a farm in the Diagonal vicinity. An employee of the Farm Service Company of Clearfield,
Francis had driven to the Milo PARKER farm six miles north of Diagonal to make a delivery. While the gas barrel was being
filled, Francis sat in the cab of the truck with the motor running. Francis is survived by his widow, Karen; three
children, Debbie, Diane, and David; and, his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo HACKER of Mount Ayr.
The Mount Ayr Raiders closed their 1959-60 basketball season with the Lenox Tigers putting the damper on any hopes of
moving up in the tournament with a 57-56 killer diller in the opening game of the sectional played Monday night at Creston.
John KYL, congressman of the 4th District of Iowa, requested the Post Office Department to appoint Joseph W. SEATON
permanent postmaster at Delphos. Mr. SEATON has been the acting postmaster.
